Northwood Technical College awards $166,000 for fall 2022 semester scholarships

Donors continue to provide important financial assistance to Northwood Technical College students. Last semester, the Northwood Technical College Foundation awarded 225 scholarships for a total of $135,825 toward spring semester scholarships. For the upcoming fall 2022 semester, student aid for educational expenses totaled $166,000 awarded through 289 scholarships.

“The Northwood Technical College Foundation relies heavily on the generosity of our donors to fulfill the dreams of the students we serve and the employment needs of our community. This spring, we were able to award 289 scholarships with a total of more than $166,000 to continue fulfilling our mission,” stated Kim Pearson, Executive Director for Northwood Tech Foundation.

Locally Andrew Leonard of Medford received a scholarship to study Nursing - Associate Degree through the Ashland Special Event - Program Scholarship.

Pearson went on to share the sentiment of one scholarship applicant stating, “The impact is evident, as stated by one recipient, ‘I am very thankful there are people and organizations that see the value of investing in the future of students pursuing a trade. Skilled craftsmen have always been an integral part of our economy and a benefit to every level of society. With your help, I will take my place among them.’” Scholarships assist students with education-related costs such as tuition, fees, books, classroom supplies and more. For Northwood Tech students, these scholarships and other forms of aid provide support while they achieve their goal and begin their career path with little to no student debt. Some of these students are fresh out of high school, while others are returning to school for a variety of reasons including years of working in a different career field or being a stay-at-home parent. No matter what level or age these individuals are enrolling at Northwood Tech, any assistance they receive makes the journey to achieving their degree less difficult and allows them to focus on Northwood Tech’s overall objective of Learning First.
