Athens committee membership okayed

A newly re-elected Athens Village Board on April 25 approved committee assignments and other reorganizational business.

The following are village board committee appointments: Tracy Westfall is chair of finance and personnel with members Guden and Dwight Lenhard; Schreiner is chair of fire and police with members Westfall and Randy Decker; Guden is chair of parks and public welfare with members Perkins and Lenhard; Decker is chair of streets with members Perkins and Schreiner; Lenhard is chair of public property with members Westfall and Schreiner and Perkins is chair of water and sewer with members Decker and Guden.

Village board members approved the following other president’s appointments: Dean Dietrich of Weld Riley as village of Athens attorney and Tlusty, Kennedy and Glascock as the Athens Police Department’s attorney for oneyear terms; Hoffman Appraisal Service as village assessor and Lisa Czech as village clerk/treasurer for two-year terms; Chuck Kornack as emergency management director; Perkins on the board of review with alternates Lenhard and Decker; Schreiner and Westfall as representatives to the Athens Area Fire Commission with Decker, Guden, Kornack, Lenhard and Perkins as alternates and Dan Nowak to the Community Development Authority (CDA) committee for a four-year term and Perkins as village president protem.

The village board also approved the following president’s re-appointments: Czech as weed commissioner, Eugene Denk as forester, Ben Brooks as zoning administrator and Robert Christensen as building inspector for one-year terms; Bill Balz as a citizen member along with Perkins and Decker to the Plan Commission and Gale Weiler and Jackie Thurs as members of the Board of Appeals for three-year terms.
