Emery Lowell Peterson Emery Lowell Peterson

Emery Lowell Peterson was born May 30, 1942, in the Town of Antigo. He always enjoyed watching the storms roll in and the calm that was to follow. His personality was much the same.

Emery was either rough, tough and challenging, or calm, cool and quiet, depending on the situation. Just like the calm after the storm, he passed away peacefully at home Friday, April 22, 2022.

From an early age, Emery had a love of horses, livestock, farming and agriculture. He spent an endless amount of time at the family farm, where many life lessons were learned, and eventually passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Emery had countless stories about his horses and mules, cattle deals conducted throughout the country, the adventures with his family and friends that were so much a part of this time in his life.

He was a true and trusted friend to many, and treasured each visit or phone call from those who knew him best. He loved to tell stories, could always keep a secret when it was shared with him and he was always listening, even when you thought he wasn’t.

Emery was also known to be the “great supervisor” of projects at his home or throughout the neighborhood. There was always a “to do” list for his kids and grandkids when they arrived for a visit.

The man with a great smile and sparkling eyes married an angel named Barbara “Barb” Hrdlicka, who journeyed with him through the best and worst of times. Emery and Barb were married in August of 1971. Last summer, they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

She was not a nurse by profession, but diligently provided care, which absolutely contributed to Emery being around to celebrate many additional family milestones over the past decade.

Emery was a lover of the rodeo and many different sports, including watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. However, everyone who knew Emery, knew that his children and grandchildren were his greatest accomplishments.

He enjoyed every visit from his kids and grandkids, attending their sporting events when able, live streaming their college ball games, or viewing new videos and pictures of his family on social media.

Emery dearly loved his immediate and extended family, including cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife – Barbara; two daughters – Peg Banks (Jeff), and their children – Brianna and Dalton, Penny Kowalkowski (John), and their children – Georgina, Emery, Saxon and Anna; three sons – Ernest Peterson (Meg), and their children – Evander and Hazel, Patrick Peterson (Allie), and their children – Jude Laursen and Gordon, and Ryan Peterson (Kendal), and their child – Braxton; his sister – Pat Fredrickson; and brother – Stuart Peterson.

He is preceded in death by his parents – Gordon and Georgina Peterson; brother – Doug Peterson; brother-inlaw – Larry Hodge; and brother-in-law – Lee Boiteau.

Services will be held at noon, Saturday, May 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cadott, with the Rev. Dr. Gary Paul officiating. A light lunch will follow.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church. Inurnment will be at the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott, at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mayo Home Health and Hospice. Their wonderful care assisted his wife, Barb, in honoring his wish to spend his final weeks at home.

Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cadott, is assisting the family.
