ABBOTSFORD T RIBUNE PUBLISHED IN ABBOTSFORD THURSDAY, JULY 17, 1952 Annual School Meeting Transacts Regular Business The annual school meeting of Joint District No. 1 of the towns of Hull, Holton, Colby and Mayville and the Village of Abbotsford was held Monday evening at the high school auditorium. The meeting was called to order at 8 o’clock by H. J. Amacher, Director, and Herbert Juneau was selected chairman of the meeting.

The routine business of the reading of the minutes of the last annual meeting and a special meeting, the auditor’s report and the annual report were all read and accepted.

A tax levy of $34,000.00, the sum proposed by the board, was decided upon. The salaries of the board were set the same as last year: director, $100; treasurer, $125; and clerk, $500. H. J. Amacher, director, was unanimously reelected for a term of three years. Mr. Amacher has served on the board in the capacity of clerk and director for about 25 years.

Auditors for the coming year are Al Goldamer, Herbert Wilhelmi and Elmer Schraufnagel.

Mr. Juneau stated that the progress on the new building is evident, as the arches are here and a good showing is being made on the walls. The contractor expects the building to be ready by Sept. 15.

A hot lunch program will be started as soon as possible. The school is on the surplus commodity list, and will be receiving supplies this year.

THE TRIBUNE-P HONOGRAPH PUBLISHED IN COLBY THURSDAY, JULY 13, 1972 Colby Cheese Days to begin Friday The Colby Cheese Days celebration will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 14, 15 and 16. According to Dr. A. H. Fults, chairman, a number of events have been planned along with the awarding of many prizes, including first prize of a 14-foot boat and five horse power motor with trailer and a color television as second prize.

The three-day event begins Friday at 4 p.m. with the opening of Veterans of Foreign Wars refreshment and eat stand. At 4:30 p.m., a fish fry will be sponsored by the Colby Area Chamber of Commerce and also an ice cream social will be served by the First United Church of Christ. At 7 p.m. on Friday, a coin hunt for the kiddies will be held. The Lion’s Club auction is set for 8 p.m. and the Moonlighters Polka Band will provide music following the auction. The gigantic Kiddie parade will begin activities at 1 p.m. Saturday. Cash prizes will be awarded as well as treats given to all the kids. At 1:30 p.m., the snowmobile grass drag races will be held and awarded in a number of classes.

At 3 p.m. the punt, pass and kick contest will be held and at 8 p.m. the heavy class of the tractor pull will be held. At 10:30 p.m., a tug-o-war contest between the townships and municipalities for cheese and beer will be held and at 11 p.m., all persons will have their last chance to redeem Colby Cheese Days coupons good for the 3/4 pound of Colby Cheese.
