The Stratford Lions Club held a meeting on Oct. 13 in Stratford Community Hall. Club members enjoyed refreshments and a broasted chicken meal from Stratford Family Foods.

Club members took care of all its pending new and old business.

Some items of interest in the meeting were: the club donated $1,000 to the Stratford United Way $2,000 to the Lions Parade of Checks, $1,500 to the WLF, $75 to the Leader Dog, $100 to the 27C-1 District Hearing, $75 to Vitamin A Project, $75 to Journey for Sight, $75 to the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin and $100 to pre-Kindergarten screening.

The Stratford Lions Club is always looking for new members who enjoy socializing and helping out others in the community.

Fitness center hours

The Stratford High School fitness center is open from 4:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Monday thru Sunday, but the fitness center is closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. each weekday for cleaning; it’s not closed an hour on Saturdays and Sundays for cleaning.

Stratford School District residents need to visit the high school office to get their keyfob updated before they’ll be able to gain access into the fitness center.

Village yard waste

The village of Stratford streets department workers will pick up curbside collection of residents’ leaves, grass clippings and garden materials on Mondays and Tuesdays, Nov. 1-2. Village residents must place their yard waste in clear plastic bags to be picked up.

All tree brush and branches must be bundled, not larger than two feet in diameter by eight feet in length, and not heavier than 50 pounds per bundle. Village residents should keep thorny brush in separate bundles not longer than three feet long.

Village residents shouldn’t set their brush out on the curb earlier than 48 hours bfore the yard clean up dates, and property owners are responsible for cleaning up their own yards.

Garbage/recycling

The village of Stratford will contract with Harter’s Disposal for resident garbage and recycling services, beginning on Jan. 1, 2022, after the village’s contract ends with Advanced Disposal.

Much of the garbage and recycling services provided by Harter’s Disposal wil be the same as Advanced Disposal, including special fall and spring cleanup days, the option of purchasing excess garbage stickers and singlestream recycling.

Book Club

The public is welcome to take part in a lively discussion each moth with other book enthusiasts at the Stratford Branch library.

Weather permitting, the November Book Club will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, or it will be discussed virtually if it can’t be held outside.

COVID dashboard

Stratford Public Schools reported three positive cases of COVID-19 as of Oct. 25 out of 933 staff and students.

The three active COVID-19 cases among students and staff are in the Stratford middle/ high school building.

Thirty-nine Stratford staff and students have tested positive for COVID-19 since Sept. 1, 2021.
