Dr. Ebener “Eb” Ballinger


Dr. Ebener “Eb” Ballinger, 44, Cornell, died in Cornell, Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Eb was born in Sumner Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, Oct. 15, 1977, to Lori Ann Bueling and Arden Robert Ballinger.
He loved working on the farm and with dairy cattle.
Eb graduated from Roseville Area High School (Roseville, Minn.), and earned his bachelor’s of science, master’s of dairy nutrition and doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Eb married Wilma M. Miller Sept. 6, 2014, and together, they had two children, James Robert and Hannah Patricia Ballinger.
He worked as a large-animal veterinarian, well-respected for his caring practice through the Cornell Veterinary Clinic since July 2010.
Eb enjoyed camping with his family, playing cards, reading, grilling, cooking and watching sports.
He was also a proud member of FarmHouse Fraternity, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He participated in church and community activities, and served a term on the Cornell City Council.
Eb survived significant childhood trauma and endured ongoing mental health challenges, even as he built a successful career, delighted in marriage, loved his family and improved his community.
He is survived by wife – Wilma; children – James and Hannah; mother – Lori; siblings – Asenathe (Art) Bull, Ezra (Jenn) Ballinger, Obadiah (Javen Swanson) Ballinger, Bethelee (Jeff) Stine and Lishe (Jeremy) Vranek; grandmother – Patricia Bueling; and beloved uncles; aunts; cousins; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers – Mizpah, Samuel and Jacob; uncle – David Bueling; aunt – Elaine Ballinger; and grandparents – Donald Bueling, and Robert and Ione Ballinger.
Visitation will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Cornell, Friday, May 27, from 5-7 p.m., with an informal storytelling time at 6:30 p.m. A funeral will be held at Keystone New Life Alliance Church in Cornell, Saturday, May 28, at 11 a.m., with a visitation beforehand at 10 a.m., and burial afterward, at the Cornell Cemetery.
