Gilman got 13 points from its hurdlers. Branden Ustianowski lowered his time by 0.12 seconds to 45.03 seconds and took second in the 300-meter intermediates, while Franzen was fourth in a personal- best 50.97 seconds. The rest of the Pirates’ scoring took place in the throws. Bryce Chovan set a personal record for the second straight meet, taking third in the discus at 111-6, just ahead of Branden Ustianowski, who set a personal record at 110-8. Zack Marion set a new best at 97-1, while Caleb Marion threw 94-4 as they were seventh and eighth. Zack Marion was fourth with a throw of 36-7.5 in the shot put, while Rib Lake’s Brandon Heiser was 10th at 32-11.

Rib Lake will now prepare for the Marawood Conference championships to be held Monday at Marathon. Gilman is at Cadott Friday before attending the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference championships in Colby on Tuesday.
