Elaine Carol Burns

Elaine Carol Burns passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, Monday, March 21, 2022, at the age of 79.

Elaine was born June 16, 1942, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the youngest of three children, to Chalmer and Geneveive (Kowalewski) Shipley.

She grew up in Cornell, and graduated from Cornell High School in 1960.

Elaine married Dale Burns Aug. 12 1961, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, and celebrated over 60 years of marriage. They farmed in the Township of Arthur, for 35 years. They later settled into a home in the Crescent area.

She was a devoted housewife and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and even better mother. Elaine was a member of the Holy Cross Ladies Aide.

She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and made wedding flower arrangements. In her later years, she spent a lot of time doing adult coloring.

Elaine especially loved celebrations, get-togethers, and visiting with friends and relatives.

She is survived by her husband – Dale, sons – Brian Burns and Michael Burns, all of Cadott; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. She was loved and will be missed be many.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Chalmer and Geneveive; brother – Eugene Shipley; and sister – Geraldine (Knez) Shipley.

Per Elaine’s wishes, there will be no funeral or service at this time.
