Harold “Curly” L. Smith


Harold “Curly” L. Smith, 98, Cadott, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, peacefully at home.
Curly was born Aug. 15, 1923, the son of Raymond and Rose (Sipple) Smith, in Eau Claire.
He grew up in Chippewa Falls, and later, he served in the U.S. Army as an ammunition handler during World War II, and later, was honorably discharged.
Harold married Emma Greene. Curly lived his entire life in the Cadott area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, camping and drinking his Leinenkugel’s.
He is survived by his wife – Emma (Greene) Smith; children – Darrell (Bonnie) Smith, Scot (Penny) Smith, Cindy (Ken) Ludwig and Rose (John Martin) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother – Lawrence “Snuffy” Smith; and a sister – Virginia Culver.
Services will be held at noon, Saturday, March 26, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, with the Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.
