It is with deep sorrow, that we announce the death of John W. Philippi, Holcombe, who peacefully passed away in his home, Monday, Feb. 14, 2022.

John was born Jan. 12, 1955, in Stanley.

He was a union millwright for much of his career.

John was united in marriage to Carol Loch in 1975, and went on to have two children, Dawn and Melanie.

He was an outdoorsman through and through, enjoying camping, boating, fishing, hunting, gardening and ATV riding. He also loved to spoil his dogs (Bonnie and Clyde) and was an avid reader.

John was a strong, kind, loving and supportive father. He always put family first and was a dedicated husband. John will be best remembered for his loud, passionate opinions and colorful use of language.

He is survived by his wife – Carol Phillippi; his daughters – Dawn Kearns (Kevin) and Melanie Robinson (Mark); his grandchildren – Phoebe and Cordelia Kearns, and Caleb and Finley Robinson; his siblings – Jody Shilts (Clayton) and Cindy Abbiehl (Chad); stepsisters – Wendy Zeka and Roxanne Kron (Tom); his nieces and nephews – Gina Kildahl (Cory), Theresa Phillippi, Mary Jo Ball, Colin Shilts, Amy Esensten (Jeremy), Devan Prasnicky, Lexi Prasnicky, Tristan Abbiehl and Hope Abbiehl; and his great-nieces and great-nephews – Bethany Kohn (Aaron), Dylan, Cole and Sterling Kildahl, Michael Phillippi, Becca and Jenna Ball, and Ethan Esensten.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Bill Phillippi and Mary Ellen Phillippi; his stepmother – Karen (Toots) Phillippi; his brother – Jim Phillippi (Debbie); his sister – Jeanne Phillippi; his nephew – Bradley Phillippi; and his great-nephew – Ezra Esensten.

No services will be held at this time. We request all John’s family and friends join us for a celebration of life in Holcombe, in summer 2022 (location and date TBD).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin – Fox Cities.

Borton-Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cornell, is assisting the family.
