The Stratford Lions Club held a meeting on Feb. 12. Members enjoyed refreshments and a meal prepared by Lion Harold Wrensch.
Lions club members took care of all their pending new and old business.
The following are some items of interest at the meeting: The Stratford Lions Club donated $100 to the Stratford Food Pantry; Lions Mike Mc-Meeken, Barry Brubaker, Paul Pankratz and Lyle Pospyhalla conducted vision screenings on 31 Stratford Elementary School pre-schoolers on Feb. 10-11 and the club will help the Stratford Boy Scouts monetarily with their 2022 charter dues.
Proceeds from all the donated deer hides to the Stratford Lion trailer will go toward helping children and adults with disabilities attend the Wisconsin Lion Camp for free.
On campus
Mariah Zawislan of Stratford was awarded to both the dean’s and chancellor’s lists at UW-Platteville for the fall 2021 semester. She is majoring in elementary education.
The following UW-La Crosse students from Stratford were named to the college’s dean’s list for the 2021-22 fall semester: Clare and Andrew Bargender, accountancy majors; Manny Drexler, exercise and sport science major: exercise sciencefitness track; Paige Kolbeck, exercise and sport science major: physical, adapted and school health education; Jessamae Rice, elementary/middle education and special education major; Maria Schoenfuss, mathematics education major and Kamryn Schueller and Erin Stueber, biology majors.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must have earned not less than a 3.5 semester GPA and carried a minimum of 12 credits.
Bloodmobile
A bloodmobile will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every other month, beginning in February, at the VFW clubhouse in Stratford.
The following Tuesday blood drives will take place at the VFW clubhouse in Stratford: Feb. 22, April 26, June 28, Aug. 23 and Oct. 25.
No appointments are needed for people to donate blood.

COVID dashboard
Stratford Public Schools reported four positive cases of COVID-19 as of Feb. 11, out of 933 staff and students.
There are three positive cases of COVID-19 in Stratford Elementary School and one in Stratford middle/high school.
All students and staff who tested positive for COVID-19 are in isolation at home.
One hundred fifty-one Stratford staff and students have tested positive for COVID-19 since Sept. 1, 2021.
