Marathon Public Schools reported as of Nov. 9 eight people out of 850 staff and students have confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. The district has had 71 cases of coronavirus this year. There are 154 staff and students on a close contact watch list.
Giving tree
A Circle of Joy Christmas “Giving Tree” will be located at People’s State Bank, Marathon. Ornaments with children’s ages and wish lists will be placed on the tree or available from tellers. All gifts are to be wrapped and returned to the bank tree no later than Thursday, Dec. 10. If you are interested in participating, pick up a name at Peoples State Bank or the Village of Marathon City office.
Christmas party
The National Catholic Society of Foresters Court 850 will have a Christmas Party and short business meeting Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Village Inn, Marathon City.
A social will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m. Make a reservation by calling Suzie Martin at 715-4432132 or Jackie Lemanski at 715443-2104 before Friday, Nov. 26.

Farm toy show
Marathon FFA Alumni will hold an annual farm toy and craft show on Sunday, Dec. 5, at Marathon High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you would like more information or would like space in the gym, call Steve at 715-432-3518. All proceeds from the event go to support the agribusiness program in the Marathon School District.
