The first home game as an eight-man football team for Cornell, came Sept. 10, as the Chiefs hosted the Clayton Bears. Clayton struck first in the match-up, holding Cornell scoreless through three quarters.
The Chiefs got on the board in the fourth quarter, with six points, but the Bears’ lead was too great and the game went their way, 42-6.
Junior Avery Turany led for Cornell, with 179 yards, followed by junior Dylan Bowe, with 46. Sophomore Daniel Person and freshman Preston Fredrickson each ended with 3 yards.
Although the win went to the opposing team, the Chiefs gained experience and worked out some plays to improve.
“On to conference play,” said coach Craig Braaten.
