Charles Martin
Charles (“Chuck”) Martin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-1970. He completed basic training at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Calif., before attending Aviation Mechanical Fundamentals School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was stationed at El Toro Air Base in Santa Ana, Calif., as a jet mechanic working on F4 Phantoms. He served in Da Nang, Vietnam in 1970, reaching the rank of sergeant.
With Martin’s’ death a year ago, his family placed a stone to honor him for his service and to celebrate his life. He was honored during a 2015 Never Forgotten Honor Flight and served in the American Legion Post 469 for over 40 years.
David Ceranski
David (Dave) Ceranski served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (1965-1967). He completed basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, and went on to reach SP5 rank as a helicopter crew chief in the 1st Air Cavalry Division ARA, stationed in An Khe, Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal and a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
Ceranski’s family placed a stone honoring him for his contributions to country, community, and family. He was recognized during a 2015 Never Forgotten Honor Flight. He is an active member of the American Legion Post 469.
The Highground has a registry containing photos and memories that tell a story about each Honor Stone recipient. The registry is kept at The Highground Museum Library for visitors to view.
The Highground Veteran’s Park and Camp Victory is a 456-acre memorial park and retreat located in the hills of Central Wisconsin and founded in 1984 with a mission to honor, educate, and heal. The park holds 12 memorials and a meditation garden with tributes to servicemen and women from Vietnam, Korean and Persian Gulf as well as women, nurses, Native American Veterans, and more. Camp Victory is the site of trails and camping grounds and is used for retreats for veterans.
