Storytime returns, with new location in Riverview Park

By Julia Wolf

Like many things this year, Cadott Community Library’s storytime is set to look a little different this year. The library will hold Storytime in the Park, Wednesdays, June 16 through July 21.

Participants will meet on the west side of Riverview Park, in the grass, at 10:30 a.m.

“Because we are still requiring masks in the library, our compromise was to do our storytimes outside,” said Samma Johnson, library director.

The outdoors event is weather permitting, and Johnson says families are welcome to bring picnic blankets or something to sit on.

“We are hoping to have a couple of other volunteer readers,” said Johnson.

Johnson says volunteers do not have to pick out their own books, as she can give them a selection to chose from that fits the week’s theme.

“No stress,” said Johnson. “You don’t have to know anything about children’s books or anything like that.”

She says there will also be a game or activity set up. Johnson says there may also be a take-and-make project for the youth as they leave.

The event will also take place near the play equipment, so families can also take advantage of the park’s offerings when storytime is finished.

“We’re happy to be able to do some programming again, even if it does have to be outside,” said Johnson.

Those who would like to be a volunteer reader or who would like more information on storytimes, can contact the library at 715-289-4950, cadottpl@cadottlibrary.org, or message the library on Facebook.
