CESA launches new service aimed at equitable outcome

Cooperative Educational Service Agency 10 (CESA 10), one of 12 educational service agencies in Wisconsin, is announcing the launch of a new service aimed at building the capacity of schools and communities to ensure equitable outcomes for students.

This service will be centered on providing resources, developing ongoing collaboration with stakeholders, providing systemic professional development and a system-wide review of practices to ensure that schools are equipped to address, in a sustainable way, the complex problems of equity, opportunity gaps and preparing students for participation in a global economy.

“Recent events have raised awareness of the serious and deeply rooted realities of inequity in our country,” said school improvement director Kristen Gundry. “It is our mission to help schools address barriers that have resulted in inequitable student outcomes.”

There will be three levels of support within the new service. The first level of support will be provided at no charge to anyone and will include resources (such as videos, web content and other multimedia).

The second level will include professional development, on-site support and technical assistance, to create equitable and safe environments, eliminate barriers preventing access to educational programs and services, and facilitate peer coaching.

The third level is a three-year process, that will include a system-wide review of policies, procedures and practices, resulting in recommendations and assistance for implementation, ongoing support and training.

The new service is set to launch officially in the summer of 2021.
