Rib Lake, Gilman schools receive TEACH grant funds
Rib Lake and Gilman School District and the Westboro library are among 141 Wisconsin school districts and libraries who will receive nearly $3 million in 2021 Technology for Educational ACHievement (TEACH) Information Technology Infrastructure grants.
“It is critically important that Wisconsinites across the state have access to high-quality educational resources,” said Department of Administration (DOA) Secretary Joel Brennan. “Many rural schools and libraries often do not have the funds available to invest in their technology infrastructures to ensure that accessibility and the opportunities that come with it.”
Rib Lake schools will receive $30,000 in TEACH grant funds. Gilman School District will receive $20,900 and the Westboro Public Library will receive $5,000.
TEACH grants are awarded annually on a competitive basis to eligible school districts and libraries for the purpose of improving the capacity of rural communities to utilize technology for students and library patrons. This year, demand for TEACH grants exceeded the amount of funds available, with $3.9 million in grant requests from 160 eligible school districts and 15 eligible libraries across Wisconsin.
“These infrastructure grants will help rural communities improve educational accessibility for their residents, which ultimately benefits our entire state,” said Secretary Brennan. “I am proud that Governor Tony Evers and his Administration are supporting these important and ongoing efforts.”
Other school districts in the region receiving funding are as follow: Cadott Community School District $18,000; Colby School District $29,760; Cornell School District $19,320; Edgar School District $10,548; Owen-Withee School District $27,120; Prentice School District $26,295; School District of Athens $11,730 and Thorp School District $21,200.
