The Stratford Lions Club has donated $2,000 to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation in support of the Lions Camp all of its statewide projects.

Stratford Lions also donated $1,500 to the local United Way campaign.

College notes

Stratford college students Lauren Dillinger and Clare Marquardt, who are both studying art education at UWStout, were awarded to the dean’s list for the 2020 fall semester.

Ashlyn Busche, Callie Lehman, Chandler Schmidt and Hannah Schoenfuss, all of Stratford, were named to the Winona St. University dean’s list for the 2020 fall semester.

College students at both UWStout and Winona St. need to achieve a minimum grade point of 3.5.

The following Stratford college students earned the dean’s list at UW-Madison for the fall semster in the 2020-21 academic year: Faith Franseen in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Kyler Haupt and Nadia Ougayour in the College of Letters and Science; Sarah LaBorde in the School of Business.

Blaire Lindner of Stratford was awarded to the dean’s honor list in the School of Nursing and Travis Witt garnered high honor roll in the School of Pharmacy.

Kaylee Hollatz of Stratford was awarded Highest Honors at UW-Green Bay for the 2020 fall semster, while Kaylee Guldan received Honors.

High honors at UW-Green Bay go to students earning 3.99 to 3.75 grade point averages, and honors are given to students earning 3.74 to 3.50 grade point averages.

MAREA meets

The Marshfield Area Retired Educators (MAREA) held its January meeting via ZOOM with 18 members attending.

The meeting was called to order by president Cindee Loos, followed by the Pledge to the Flag. The secretary and treasurer reports were approved.

The MAREA sent scholarship money to the two recipients. A donation was also sent to the Stratford Food Pantry. MAREA has purchased ZOOM to allow more time for speakers during future meetings. Members read thank you notes from Spencer Food Pantry and the scholarship recipient.

Kathleen Hasenhorl of the MAREA health committee reminded members of things to do to stay healthy, including sleep, exercise, stress management and participating in joyful activity.

Doreen Schultz of the MAREA legislative committee reminded members about the Jan. 6 DC happening, and she reminded members to to vote in February for the state superintendent of public schools.

Trina Tiffany of the MAREA membership committee reminded members the direc- tory will be sent via e-mail with printed copies available for those needing one. Members thanked Trina Tiffany for her leadership of getting meetings set up on ZOOM. Any member needing help accessing ZOOM should contact Trina Tiffany for assistance.

Carol Ballerstein of the MAREA public relations committee reported two get well cards were sent to members and the meeting minutes are being printed in The Record-Review.

Ruby Pinter of the MAREA scholarship committee reported applications for the next scholarship round have been sent to 10 area participating schools.

In new business, members shared what they are doing to occupy themselves and remain healthy during the COVID- 19 pandemic.

MAREA members sang birthday songs were those who had birthdays. Ruby Thomas reported the May 5, 2021, District No. 3 meeting will be held virtually just like the state meeting was, and all MAREA members are invited to attend. Thomas requested all members’ birthdays be made available so contacts can be made in an effort to stay in contact with each other. A mental health speaker will be present at the MAREA’s February meeting. The January meeting was adjourned.
