Alice M. Steen


1938-2023 Alice M. Steen, 84, of Rib Lake, died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at her home while under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the town of Greenwood, with Rev. Kenneth Bittorf officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to Hope Hospice or to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Alice was born July 25, 1938 in Merrill to Florian and Bertha (Wittwer) Zogg. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1956. On Aug. 27, 1960, Alice married Ervin Steen. They resided in the town of Greenwood. Alice worked as farmer, secretary, nursing home aide and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greenwood where she was active in the ladies aide and the choir. She enjoyed camping, collecting bells and brassware, gardening, going for walks, was a member of the Sweet Adelines Choir, and was a member of the Friday Night Dartball League for many years. She is survived by her husband, Ervin of Rib Lake; daughter, Debbie (Roger) Byrd; son, Brian Steen, all of Rib Lake; siblings, Andrew Zogg of Merrill, Paul Zogg of Avon, Mont.; brother-in-law, Eugene (Donna Otto) Stahel of Wausau; sister-in-law, Irene Higgins of Medford; grandchildren, Steven Byrd, Gregory (April) Byrd, all of Medford; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Frank and Frieda Steen; sisters, Elizabeth (Victor) Lipka, Mary Ann Stahel, Joyce (Leroy) Woller; brother- in-law, Dick Higgins; nieces, Lynette Zogg and Sherri Pfaff; nephew, Bradley Zogg; and grandson, Michael Byrd. Dorothy M. Rueden

Dorothy M. Rueden


1940-2023 Dorothy M. Rueden, 82, of Stetsonville, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Clark County Rehab, under the care of Promedica Hospice. A funeral service for Dorothy will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, with Pastor Richard Russow officiating. Visitation will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Dorothy was born on April 26, 1940 to Alvin and Gladys (Knorr) Rabehl in Beaver Dam. She graduated from Dorchester High School in 1958. She married Stanley John Bochanyin in 1958 and they were later divorced. She married Russell Rueden in 1979 and he preceded her in death in 2020. Dorothy worked as a CNA at the hospital in Ladysmith, Presto Appliances in Eau Claire, The Alibi Bar, and purchased Jerkwater Bar in 1967, which she owned and operated until her retirement. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing card games such as 500 Rummy and Sheepshead. She played the accordion, piano, and organ. She also enjoyed trips with the RV and pontooning on Lake Solberg. She loved spending time with family. Dorothy is survived by her children, Lee (Lindy) Bochanyin of Mosinee, Linda Reynolds of Athens, Luanne Mears of Ellabell, Ga., Lauri Moore of Stetsonville, Larry (Becky) Bochanyin of Ogema and Lois (John W.) Klimpke of Milan; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor (Patti) Rabehl of Spirit Lake and Chris (Betty) Rabehl of Athens. Dorothy is further survived by other family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Stanley; second husband, Russell; siblings, Alvin Rabehl Jr. and Sharon Boehm. Curtis L. Sigmund


1970-2023 Curtis L. Sigmund, 52, of Medford, town of Molitor, died Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born Aug. 10, 1970 in Medford to Richard Sr. and Janet (Cutrell) Sigmund. He attended Medford High School, class of 1989. On March 24, 1992, Curt married Diana Kowalski in Medford. They resided in Medford where Curt worked as a school bus driver, dump truck driver, welder, and a truck driver. He also logged with his father for a time. He was also a great help to his dad in the development and early production of the Janick trenching machine. Curt was an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and being on his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Diana of Medford; children, Maranda (Bud Griesbach) Sigmund of Medford, Korissa (Jason) Fettes of Hatley, Johnathon (Stephany) Sigmund of West Bend, Curtis Sigmund II of Medford; his father, Richard Sr. (Mary) Sigmund of Medford; siblings, Richard Jr. (Tracey) Sigmund of Dorchester, Eric (Dawn) Sigmund of Medford, Timothy (Michelle) Sigmund of Athens, Candice (Jimmy) Riley of Medford; nine grandchildren; mother-in-law Marilyn Kowalski; brother-in-law, John Kowalski; both of Moberly Mo.; brother-in-law, Jerome (Heidi) Kowalski Jr. of Stetsonville; and many nieces and nephews. James Lyle Schaff

James Lyle Schaff


1942-2023 James Lyle Schaff, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. There will be a visitation held on Friday, March 31 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison from 9:30-11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a light lunch. Jim was born on July 9, 1942, in Medford, to Aloysius and Evelyn Schaff. He was a highly intelligent young man, graduating from high school at the age of 16. While he was in school, he met a beautiful girl named Patricia Retterath. They began dating and on July 21, 1962, Jim and Pat got married. Pat was attending nursing school at the time, but they decided that she would work instead to pay to put Jim through school to attain an accounting degree. Jim worked for Mead Paper Company for several years, then moved on to John Wick Corporation. In 1979 Jim went to Marshall Erdman and Associates to manage the Techline division, retiring in 1998. Jim was not one to sit still, and went on to his favorite job of all, where for 20 years he was a tour guide at the State Capitol. He enjoyed listening and interacting with all the young folks on school field trips and people from around the globe. Jim enjoyed sports, both playing and watching; they had season tickets to Badger Football and Basketball games and he always watched the Packer games and Nascar races. He viewed family as very important and every night when the kids were growing up they had dinner together. Jim and Pat enjoyed playing bridge, Euchre, sheepshead and double pinochle with their family and friends. Jim and Pat owned a cottage on Sackett’s Lake near Medford for forty years, where they made many friends and also spent fun times with the kids and grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Patricia; children Deborah Wilcox, Susan Schaff, and Jon (Kari) Schaff; grandchildren Murphy, Griffin and Ava Schaff; and siblings Annette (Luke) Warrington and Jack (Wanda) Schaff. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Being a Medford boy at heart, Jim will be buried there. Jerald “Jerry” Louis Wojner


1939-2023 Jerald “Jerry” Louis Wojner, 83, Abbotsford, passed away on March 22, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Jerry was born on May 15, 1939, in Greenwood, to the late Valentine and Alice (Witt) Wojner. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1957. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Lynne Nehrlich, who survives. Jerry worked at Abbotsford Auto, the family business, for many years. He was also employed as a salesman for heavy duty trucks and in auto body repair. Jerry was a member of the Abbotsford Sportsman’s Club, and served as president, vice president and treasurer. He was also a member and president of Little Rice ATV Club. Jerry was dedicated to teaching hunter safety for the youth for 12 years, and served as vice president of the Abbotsford School Board for 12 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed racing stock cars in his younger years. In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Jerri Lynn (Dennis Davis) of Dorchester, Lisa Marie (Mike) Haase of Marathon and Suzanne Kay of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren: Brooke (Frank) Peoples, Tyler (Kaylee) Viegut, Carter Koontz, Kyle Koontz, Drew (Katie) Smola, Paige (Kyle) Kubichek, Riley (Dylan Eades), David McGowan and Jackson McGowan; seven great-grandchildren, Emmett and Aiden Peoples, Addison Viegut, Lincoln and Dottie Smola and Adilynn and Aria McGowan; and his siblings, Roger (Donna) of Texas, Wendy (David Watson) of Abbotsford and Mark of Abbotsford. Donald W. (William) Meyer

Donald W. (William) Meyer


1926-2023 Donald W. (William) Meyer, 96, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Our House Senior Living in Medford. Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date. Donald was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1926, to George and Ora Meyer in the town of Richfield. He married Anna May Rudi on May 1, 1948 in Marshfield, who preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2005. Throughout his working career, Don managed several shoe factories in Wisconsin, Texas, and the Dominican Republic. He also farmed beef cattle in Rib Lake. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting, and fishing, throughout his life, and followed his favorite sports teams: the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. He enjoyed traveling during his retirement years. While living in Rib Lake he was active in the community serving as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, School Board, St. John Lutheran Church Council, and the Village Board. After moving to Medford, he and Anna May became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Don is survived by his children, William ‘Bill’ (Barbara), Fullerton Calif.; Nancy Meyer, Powell, Tenn.; Todd (Sheryl) Meyer, Green Bay, and daughterin- law, Susan Meyer, San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Russell (Sandy), Green Bay; Gerald (Adeline), Marshfield; Bernard (Shirley), Marshfield; Randy (Cheryl), Auburndale.
