1931-2023 Philip Herbert Buehler, 92, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 at Colonial Nursing Home in Colby, after nearly a two year stay. A memorial service will be held at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford on Saturday August 12, 2023. Visitation starting at 10 a.m., followed by service at 11 a.m. Phil was born Jan. 17, 1931 at the family farm, east of Medford, of three generations to George and Dorothy (Zwingli) Buehler. Phil and wife, Elsie, dairy farmed until selling to their son, Chris and Echo Buehler, in 1983, relocating to their current residence on Apple Avenue, Medford. Phil continued in business as a partner in B & H Silage Service until retiring. Phil found the love of his life at a wedding dance in Chelsea in Nov. 1950. Phil and Elsie were married April 11, 1953, celebrating 70 years together this year. Phil is also survived by his wife, Elsie (Schwabe); his five children, Susan (Mike) Tanis, Larry (Rose) Buehler, Chris (Echo) Buehler, Karen (Mike) Johnson, Mary (Timothy) Hobl, all of Medford; and a brother Rex Buehler of Merrill. Preceding Phil’s death were siblings, Phyllis, Doris, Lillian, Jackie, Don, David; and sister-in-law, Adeline Buehler. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dustin Hamlund, Samuel Buehler, Hunter Buehler, Jeremiah Johnson and Nicholas Hobl. 1995-2023 Matthew Ryan Hotchkiss, 28, of Medford, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12 at New Life Apostolic Church, 824 Perkins St., Medford. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Saturday at the church. Matthew was born April 21, 1995 in Medford to Arlene Hotchkiss. He graduated from Medford High School in 2013. Matthew was currently working at Phillips Medisize in Medford where he had been an employee for many years. He enjoyed gaming, listening to music and attending concerts, hanging out with friends, and spending time with his family and his cats, Tiny and Grace. He will be sadly missed by his mother, Arlene Hotchkiss (Roger Ewer and his family) of Medford; his grandmother, Dorris Hotchkiss of Owen; brothers, Brandon (girlfriend, Brandi) Scheueneman of Stetsonville, Brent (fiancée Kayla) Scheueneman of Owen; aunts, Patricia (Michael) Kreiner of Okla., Karen (Dale) Zimmerman of Antigo, Jean (Jayson) Marcott of Owen, Darrel Hotchkiss of Curtiss, Steven Hotchkiss of Owen; and many friends. Corliss V. Jensen

1924-2023 Corliss V. Jensen, 98, of Medford, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at the Aspirus Medford Care and Rehab Center while under the care of hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at the Medford United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Corliss was born on Oct. 17, 1924, to Anna and Lee Jensen in Janesville, Wisconsin. He attended Dorchester High School and graduated valedictorian. He received a bachelor of Naval Science degree from Notre Dame University and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration and law degree from the University of Wisconsin. He served active duty with the US Navy from 1943-1947 and Naval Reserve from 1947-1953. In addition to being a lawyer in Medford for almost 70 years, he served with the Wisconsin National Guard from 1953-1968, was active duty from 1961-1962, and was a retired lieutenant colonel in the US Army Reserve. He married Betty J. Johnson in Madison, in 1950. Together they raised two children in Medford. Betty passed away in 1994. He married Shirley Werner in 2008. Corliss was very active in the community, having served on many boards throughout his lifetime including the Lions, United Way and the Medford Development Foundation. He, along with others, was instrumental in the founding of Memorial Hospital of Taylor County. He was one of the original founders of Black River Country Club and served on their board of directors since 1969. He was also a long-term member of the United Methodist Church and was chairman of the building committee for the present church building on Allman Street. In 1997, Corliss received the Medford Chamber Lifetime award and in 2002 he was recognized by the Wisconsin Bar Association for 50 years of law practice. (He finally cleaned out his office at the law firm in 2021!) He was an active hunter, golfer, skier, outdoors enthusiast and enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad. Corliss is survived by his wife, Shirley Werner; children, Brian Jensen (Medford) and Karey Jensen (Eden Prairie, Minn.); grandson Evan C. Jensen (Andover, Minn.); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Verlin Jensen. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Aspirus Medford Care and Rehab Center and Aspirus Hospice.
