Jerome “Jerry” L. Radlinger, age 95, of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, under the tender care of Hope Hospice. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Interment will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Dorchester American Legion Post #517. Father Timothy Oudenhoven will preside. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Jerry was born on January 25, 1927, the son of Walter and Clara (Weinfurter) Radlinger in Marshfield. He joined the U.S. Navy on June 5, 1944, and had basic training at Great Lakes Naval Base in Ill. After boot camp, Jerry was sent to a submarine base in San Diego, Calif., for three weeks. From there, he was sent to the Marine Camp Eliot for two more months of extra training and then to Pearl Harbor. Jerry was assigned to the USS Hancock CV-19 as a seaman and worked in storekeeping. He participated in all the WWII battles in which the ship was engaged. Jerry was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with seven stars, American Area Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal with two stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He was discharged as Petty Officer 2C on June 4, 1946. On March 13, 1948, Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Jane Albrecht in Neillsville. He owned several car garages, including Radlinger Chevrolet in Dorchester, which he purchased in 1955. Jerry also worked as a car salesman, retiring at age 77. Jerry was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a founding and member of the Dorchester Lions and served as the international director from 1971-73, traveling all over the world. Jerry was also a member of the Dorchester American Legion Post #517, Colby VFW Post #2227 and the Elks Lodge in Marshfield. He was also an original investor in Phillips Plastics and was a volunteer firefighter for the Dorchester Fire Department for a number of years. Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and going to the casino. He especially loved and cherished his family. Jerry is survived by his wife of almost 75 years, Betty Jane; his daughter, Julene (James) Mueller of Phillips; two grandchildren: Kirk (Debby) Cwikla of Medford and Amber (Scott) Von Seggern of Phillips; eight great-grandchildren and four greatgreat-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers: Charles Radlinger of Spring Green and Wayne (June) Radlinger of Winter; his dog, Sparky; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Troy Cwikla; his brother, Robert; and two sisters: Betty Gaulke and Claudine Blum Hamus. bituaries James K. Jensen, age 53, of Curtiss, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under the tender care of Hospice as a result of congestive heart failure. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at the Abbotsford Free Church. A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements. James was born on March 16, 1969, the son of Jon (Bonnie) Jensen and Barbara (Stanienda) Jacobson in Beloit. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1987. James worked for several restaurants in Wisconsin Dells during his younger years. He moved to Minnesota and worked as a courier for an auto parts store, tree cutting service and factory work. After 15 years, James returned to Wisconsin and settled in Curtiss. He pursued his dream as an over the road truck driver with several area trucking companies, including C.R. England, where he received his training, and JD Bauer. A back injury put him on disability. Jim loved deer hunting, fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson, camping and playing his guitar. He also loved his dogs, Copper and Pete. James is survived by his father and stepmother, Jon (Bonnie) Jensen of Dorchester; his mother, Barbara Jacobson of Wisconsin Dells; former wife, Theresa Short of Greenwood; his step-son, Garrett Short of Greenwood; his aunt, Jacqueline Uffelmann of Cashton; step-brothers: Allen Quante of Stetsonville, Brian Quante of Withee, Randy Quante of Stetsonville, Corey Quante of Madison and Scott (Cherry) Revels of Neillsville; step-sisters: Barb Quante of Stetsonville and Denice Langreck of Greenwood; his special friend, Rebecca Warner of Curtiss; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. bituaries Harold “Harry” E. Brubacher, age 64, of Abbotsford, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022. A memorial gathering was held from 9 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, followed by a graveside service at 11:15 at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. A Celebration of Life continued after the committal service at the funeral home. Harry was born on September 19, 1958, the son of Sidney and Margaretha (Miller) Brubacher. He graduated from Edgar High School in 1977. Harry drove truck for Roehl and County Materials for many years. n November 27, 2002, Harry was united in marriage to Helen Sterzinger. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2017. Together they enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling, especially to New rleans and Cancun. He also enjoyed cooking, especially barbecue chicken wings and cheesecake. Most importantly, Harry loved and cherished being with his family. Harry is survived by his seven children: Melissa Weber (Jeff Brost) of Colby, Thomas (Kathy) Walley of Abbotsford, Timothy (Michelle) Walley of Abbotsford, Stephen (Misty) Roberts of Stanley, Kris (Jody) Poehnelt of Wittenberg, Tina (Jason) Prindle of Greenwood and Amy Harwick (Dan Mitchell) of Eau Claire; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his father, Sidney Brubacher, Sr., formerly of Edgar, now of Eureka, Mo.; five siblings: Agnes (Charles) Cross of Middlebury, Ind., Sidney (Jennifer) Brubacher, Jr. of Wausau, Jonathon (Joann) Brubacher of Wausau, Carolyn (James) Brown of Eureka, Mo., and Rosetta Ford (Mark Schulz) of Merrill; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ronald R. Schoelzel Sr., age 85, of Colby, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford Interment to follow at the Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Ron was born on February 4, 1937, the son of Rudolph and Olivia (Gutenberger) Schoelzel in Colby. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Wiersig on July 21, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. She preceded him death on February 3, 2003. Ron was a truck driver for 57 years, including 40 years as an owner/operator. He also was a dairy farmer for 12 years. Ron loved playing cards, especially sheepshead, bowling, mowing lawn, camping, boating and traveling. He especially loved his dogs, Casey, Parker and Shoney. Ron is survived by his four children: Ron (Josie) Schoelzel Jr. of Colby, Rod (Sue) Schoelzel of Mission, Texas, Robin (Scott Schilling) Froeba of Colby and Randy (Debbie) Schoelzel of Colby; nine grandchildren; Shawn (Mandy) Schoelzel, Eric (Kati) Schoelzel, Shannon (Jake) Hainzlsperger, Kari (Tim) Smazal, Amy Froeba, Sara (Justin) Buelow, Erin Schoelzel, Miranda (Al) Sazama and Ethan Schoelzel; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, Oaklynn, and his special friend, Kay. He is further survived by two sisters: Darlene Wachtendonk and Sandy (George “Jim”) Hudak; five sisters-in-law: Alice Schoelzel, Ramona Schoelzel, Janice Schoelzel, Linda Schoelzel and Edith Schoelzel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. bituaries Beatrice Helfert Beatrice E. Helfert, age 99, of Colby, died on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at The Waterford Assisted Living. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby, Rev. D. Joseph Redfern presiding, with burial Monday, Dec. 19, at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Beatrice Elizabeth Cypher was born on February 2, 1923, at home on the family farm near Stetsonville, to Andrew and Hermine Cypher. Beatrice attended elementary school in Taylor County. She worked as a waitress at a restaurant in Medford, then at an ammunition factory in Chicago for three years during World War II. She married Nicholas Helfert on April 30, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church in Stetsonville. Together they farmed near Dorchester until his death in 1981. She then moved to Colby where she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. For 30 years she volunteered at the Colonial Nursing Home in Colby. There she enjoyed helping with games and activities, decorating for the holidays, and one summer helped trim a float for several residents to ride in the Colby Cheese Days parade. In 2011 she moved to an apartment in Colby where she lived independently for six years; making her final move to the nearby Waterford Assisted Living facility in 2017. Beatrice enjoyed traveling on bus tours to the Tulip Festival in Holland, Mich., the St. Louis Gateway Arch and many other destinations. She especially enjoyed her winter get-aways with family to Disney World and to the warm February sunshine of Naples, Fla. Beatrice loved playing cards and board games with her grandchildren and always remembered all their birthdays. Beatrice saw God’s hand in most things and encouraged prayer and rosaries in the face of adversity. Always devoted to her children and grandchildren, she will be greatly missed. Beatrice is survived by her eight children: Connie (Robert) Ericson of Hutchinson, Minn., Michael (Alice) of Monticello, Minn., Dolores (James) Lucas of Bloomington, Minn., Jean (Randy) Mertes of Brainerd, Minn., Mary (Leonard) Haas of Colby, Dorothy(Denny)Beckmanof Colby,James(Cathryn) of St. Paul,and Gerald (Debbie) of Spencer; 26 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas; two grandsons: Mike and Mitch Erickson; her parents, Andrew Cypher and Hermine Jakel Cypher Haberman; her step-father, Henry Haberman, and all her siblings: Clarence (Clara) Cypher, Cathrine (Walter) Seidel, Marie (Frank) Bernard, Marcella (Frank) Whittlinger, Florence (Clarence) Goessl, Dorothy (Casimir) Sobczak. She was also preceded in death by all of her Helfert inlaws: Joe, Paul, Anthony, Carl, Marie (Rudy) Kugel, Cecelia (Theodore) Schmidt and Agnes (Frank) Bartnik. Agnes “Aggie” A. Danen, age 86, of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family under the tender care of Hope Hospice. Aggie was born on March 13, 1936, the daughter of John and Emma (Gabriel) Stoiber in Dorchester. She attended St. Louis Catholic School until eighth grade and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1954. After graduation, Aggie worked at Continental Casualty in Milwaukee as a secretary. She moved back to Dorchester and worked as a secretary for PCA, Neil Smith, Meyer Lumber, Liberty Homes and Weathershield. Aggie was united in marriage to Norman Danen on September 3, 1956, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2011. Aggie was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church PCCW and also chaired the church Fall Festival for over 20 years. She was a member and an officer of the Dorchester Lioness and Lions Clubs, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an officer with the Catholic Order of Foresters. Aggie enjoyed bowling, sewing and loved being with her family. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Aggie is lovingly survived by her five children: Diane (Tim) Ludwig of Stetsonville, Donna (Scott) Stange of Unity, Dale (Michielle) Danen of Dorchester, Denise (Brian) Dahl of Stetsonville and David (Terri) Danen of Stratford; her son-in-law, Steve Voelker of Abbotsford; 18 grandchildren: Jennifer Danen, Jessica (Jose) Lara, Julie Linzmaier, Janelle Voelker (fiance’ Guadalupe Espino), Jamie (Adam) Schnabel, Andrew (Wendi) Ludwig, Matthew (Tara) Stange, Maynard (Maria) Stange, Mariah Stange (fiancé, Victor Aguilera), Michael Stange, Tommy Danen, Christal (Jordan) Mueller, Amanda Edwards (fiancé, Nick Forrett), Brittany (Shawn) Chariton, Jordan Dahl (Amy Rohweder), McKenzie (Jake) Heier, Jacob Danen and Dawson Danen and 36 great-grandchildren. Claudette Marie (Decker) Saladin, 80, born March 2, 1942, died November 29, 2022, at Clark County Rehab and Living Center, where she resided since January 2020. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Timothy Oudenhoven presided. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements. After graduating from Dorchester High School, Claudette relocated to Milwaukee, where she met and married Joseph Saladin in November, 1962. They later moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where she was employed in administrative positions with various law firms. After a divorce, she moved back to Milwaukee and was employed as a bookkeeper at Quarles & Brady LLC. In 1983 she returned to Las Vegas and continued to be employed by law firms in managerial and/or administrative positions. After the death of her mother in 1999, she returned to Wisconsin to live with her father in Dorchester. She worked in bookkeeping, administrative and various other positions while in the Medford area. Her parents, Frank and Neva Decker; her brother, Fred Decker, and her sister, Kristine (Roger) Ellenbecker, preceded her in death. Survivors include her sister, Rachel Louret, Medford; brothers: Frank (Judy) Decker, Schofield, and Mike (Connie) Decker, and many nieces and nephews.
