Ruth E. (Ringle) Paul, 92, Edgar, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Marathon. She was born on April 19, 1931, in Edgar, daughter of Agnes (Worzella) and Ervin Ringle. On September 4, 1954, she married Merlin E. Paul, who preceded her in death in December 2009. Ruth is survived by her children: David (Kimberly) Paul, Stephanie (Greg) Lindholm, Philip (Joan) Paul and Keith (Anne) Paul; six grandchildren: Kelly, Erin, Alyssa, Lucas, Elizabeth and Katherine; two great-grandchildren: Harriet and Gideon; her sisters: Grace (Robert) Reed, Joan (Donald-deceased) Beckman and Bernice (Patrick) Seifried; sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Carolla (Paul) and Walter Gust, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Edward Ringle. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, starting at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Edgar, with the funeral service starting at 12 noon. The Reverend Gail Sowell will preside. Jennie M. Radtke, 95, of the Town of Stettin, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Pride TLC, Weston, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Helmuth and Celia (Hoffman) Buttke on March 15, 1928. Jennie was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, in Wausau. She never missed watching the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks or Packers. Jennie was also passionate about fishing and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Connie (Gary) Ruplinger, Clark Radtke, and Carla (Dennis) Elliot; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Lydia Rachu, 107, of Wausau, went peacefully to her Lord and Savior in heaven Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Mountain Terrace Senior Living, Wausau. Lydia was born on November 20, 1916, in the town of Wien, Marathon County, to the late Henry and Amanda (Paul) Werner. On January 9, 1937, in Edgar, she married Edwin Rachu. They were married for 64 years. Lydia farmed with her husband in the town of Wien and Athens. She owned and operated a restaurant, the Ye Eat Shop in Edgar, for 5-1/2 years. She was a housekeeper at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Wausau for 10 years. Lydia and Ed traveled a lot in retirement having many memorable excursions. When Lydia was 85 years young, she and seven of her girlfriends went on an adventure to Hawaii. At 91 years old she wrote a book of “Memories”, chronicling her life and numerous things she found interesting. She dedicated the book to her family. Lydia enjoyed the great outdoors and camping. She loved gardening. She was a superb cook and baker. She could sew anything. Her strength was amazing, especially to go through all the experiences in life she did. Lydia had a witty sense of humor. She had a loving connection with people. She touched so many and was loved by so many. She was active in her church with the fair stand cutting vegetables at the Wisconsin Valley Fair, being a part of the quilters, Friendly Neighbors and Grace Circle. Lydia had a deep faith. She memorized hymns, Bible verses, and rhymes as a child and could still recall them in her last days. Survivors include her children: June Champagne of Rothschild, Robert Rachu of Waupaca, Carol Rachu of Wausau and Larry (Cindy) Rachu of Amarillo, Texas, nine grandchildren: Steve (Nancy) Champagne of Howe, Ind., Coby (Traci) Champagne of Rothschild, Kevin Lipinski of Athens, Kelly (Corey) Westfall of Athens, Kory (Ron) Nowacki of Athens, Kasy (Cori) Lipinski of Edgar, Carrie (Dean) Kolbeck of Wausau, Brandy (Mathew) Johnston of Austin, Texas, and Eric Rachu of Amarillo, Texas; six step-grandchildren: Floyd Roberts of Mequon, Marie Pellerino of Waupaca, Dennis (Teresa) Roberts of Menomonee Falls, Gene (Deborah) Roberts of Waupaca, Debra (Jerry) Borst of Waupaca and Cindy Anderson-Haydu of Waupaca; 14 great-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and 26 stepgreat- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, a daughter, Janice (Larry) Lipinski, a daughter-in-law, Beverly (Robert) Rachu, and a grandson, Sheldon Champagne. A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at First English Lutheran Church, 402 N. 3rd Ave Wausau. The Rev. Barry Levine presided. Dennis G. Kaiser, 75, of Edgar, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023. Dennis’ death was a result of an ATV accident near his home on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023. Dennis was born to Ralph and Martha (Andres) Kaiser on June 24, 1948, in Marshfield. On July 5, 1969, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Emily Knetter. Together they began their family and purchased and operated the Kaiser Family Farm for 37 years. Following the farming years he went to work at Marathon Cheese Corporation until his retirement in 2017 at the age of 69. Dennis’ goal in life was to be a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He succeeded greatly in all these areas. In addition to his family, he cherished his faith and was an active lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, treasurer and above and beyond, volunteer of the Holy Name Society. In his retirement, Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering at St. John’s and all that nature had to offer, especially hunting and fishing. Mary E. Schwabe, age 79, of the Town of Eau Pleine, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 at House of the Dove in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam presiding. Burial at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine will be held at a later date. She also worked at St. Vincent de Paul’s Thrift Store in Marshfield. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. Hobbies that Mary enjoyed were sewing and crafting. She was also very skilled in quilt making. She and Joe spent a lot of time out fishing and enjoying the quiet time together. Mary Ann Dvorak, 91, Athens, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at Colonial Center in Colby, under the care of Compassus Hospice. She was born June 3, 1932, in Athens, daughter of the late Frederick and Clara (Felzkowski) Kropp. On April 23, 1952, she married Chester Dvorak in Athens. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1984. Mary was a lifetime farmers wife and homemaker. Among her favorite pastimes she enjoyed crocheting, crafting, flower gardening and puzzle books. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include three children: Brian Dvorak, Donald “Donny” Dvorak and Geanna (Bruce) Denzin, all of Athens; two grandchildren: Lisa Nowacki-Kleman, Green Bay and Bryan (Kristina) Denzin, Athens; many great-grandchildren; three siblings: Leroy Kropp, Merrill, Joyce (Peter) Horacek, Abbotsford and Johanna Kropp, Abbotsford; one brother-in-law, Victor Pilsner, Robins, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Duane Joseph Dalbeck of Stratford went peacefully to eternal rest on Dec. 17, 2023, at 3 Oaks Nursing Home in Marshfield. He was born January 29, 1937, in Wakefield, Mich., to Lloyd & Linnie Dalbeck. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and was honorably discharged in 1960. Duane was united in marriage to Christine Zuidmulder Nov. 11, 1961, and enjoyed 62 years of happiness. He will be missed by his wife and children: Russell (Pam) Dalbeck & Chris (Patti) Dalbeck. He is also survived by grandchildren: Trent & Thaddeus Langenwalter and Logan & Landon Dalbeck, and one sister, Mary Ellen (Dalbeck) Laine. The Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 22, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford. Visitation is 9-11 a.m. prior to service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow.
