1987-2022 Caleb J. Quelle, of Withee, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. A Memorial Service was held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Rev. Tom Myhre officiated. Family and friends were welcome from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Internment was held at Riverside Cemetery. Caleb enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing, hunting and art, including stain glass, drawing and painting. He especially loved and cherished his daughters. 1934-2022 We are saddened to announce the passing of Elvira K. Patritto on Oct. 11, 2022 at a hospice home in North Carolina. She was surrounded by love from her family. She was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Sagola, Mich. to the late Elmer and Elsie (Morrien) Ring. In 1938 the family moved to Bessemer, Mich. where she was a graduate of the A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1952. On Sept. 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to John P. Patritto at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley, Wis. She was formerly employed at Michigan Bell Telephone Co., Ironwood, Mich., Dr. D.J. Martinetti, Hurley, Wis., and Midway Telephone Co. in Medford, Wis. Her favorite hobby was knitting and crocheting for Ronald McDonald House. She also enjoyed retirement years with her husband, spending winters in Harlingen, Texas. Especially having family and friends coming to visit there. But the greatest love of her life was her family. After John’s passing, Elvira moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. During her time at the retirement community she enjoyed spending time with new friends and of course playing bingo. She is survived by a loving son David Patritto; a special granddaughter Heather (Jesse) Campbell, Lauren (Jimmy) Milner, Hailey Patritto and six loveable great-children Dawson, Aydin, Asher, Kiptyn, Kynli Campbell, and Gavin Buehler. Also surviving are in-laws and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John of 67 years; daughter Debra J Buehler (twin of David); grandson Brandon Buehler; a sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Robert Cates; a sister and brother-in-law Elaine and (Pete) Talbot Hinze, and a sister-in-law Lucia M. 1939-2022 Thomas (Tom) Henry La Fontaine, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Lucas Proeber will officiate. He attended schools in the Stetsonville and Medford area. He married Sharon Vroman on March 26, 1982 in Wautoma, Wis. Tom was an over the road truck driver for 52 years, driving for Marathon Cheese, Schneider, and as an Owner-Operator leased to Apollo, Packerland and Sparhawk. Tom was extremely passionate about being a safe, professional driver with over 4 million perfect miles. Tom loved spending time with family and friends each deer season, hunting with the Swamsauger Hunting Club in Tripoli, Wis. He is survived by his wife, Sharon La Fontaine; brother, Dave La Fontaine, sister-in-law, Gail La Fontaine (Hessefort); sister, Karen Yates (La Fontaine) and brother-in-law, Ken Webb; children, Laurie Bryan (La Fontaine) and her husband, Packard, Tom La Fontaine and his wife, Christina, Brett Kaehn, Steve Kaehn and his fiancé, Brooke. 1944-2022 Allen A. Freiboth, age 77, of Dorchester, passed away on Oct. 11, 2022 at the Marshfield Medical Center. Allen was born on Nov. 4, 1944 in Rib Lake, the son of late Arthur and Pearl (Stanke) Freiboth. He grew up in Rib Lake where he graduated from high school. Allen married Marie Matushak in January of 1965. He drove truck for a living. Allen enjoyed deer hunting and racing his racecar. 1960-2022 Sarah Jess Dykstra, born Mary Kathleen Krolnik, was born on Aug. 8, 1960. She passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2022 at 8:54 p.m. at Care Partners Assisted Living in Weston, Wis. She was 62 years old, and had fought for nearly ten years through earlyonset Alzheimer’s disease. Sarah was born in Milwaukee, to Max and Marie Krolnik (her mother’s maiden name was Kathrein). At a young age her family moved to Rib Lake and purchased a house by the lake, where she lived for most of her childhood. Sarah attended Rib Lake High School. Her active life began with medical studies in Eau Claire before traveling to study and work in Japan. During these travels she met her future husband, David Dykstra at the Bangkok International Airport. Sarah and David Dykstra eventually had four children together. They moved many times for the benefit of their children. This included briefly in Saudi Arabia. States where they lived included Washington, Arizona, and primarily California. In 2004 they purchased a house in Santa Rosa, which is in Sonoma County, Calif. They later divorced, at which time the family had moved to San Jose, Calif. While continuing to raise four children, Sarah went back to school to pursue her passion of healing others. She received three Associate Degrees from Santa Rosa Junior College with honors. She then attended Five Branches University, in San Jose, Calif., where she received her Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She started her own business successfully, before she began to exhibit signs of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Sarah Dykstra was an incredibly loving soul, who would always go out of her way to assist others and would rarely ask for anything in return. Even when she was in the nursing home, she would try to help others whenever she could, and left a positive reputation even in her last years. Her character was rare, and her ability to persevere through difficult times and sacrifice her own needs for others was incredible. She is survived by her two brothers, Paul Krolnik and Gary Krolnik; and four children, her three daughters, Ursa Dykstra, Aryana Starwater, Karmen Dykstra, and her son, Julian Dykstra. It was a shock to Sarah’s family to lose her in this way, but she will be remembered for her boundless love, humor and blissful nature. 1954-2022 Henry J. “Hank” Lew, Jr., 67 of Ladysmith, died on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center Eau Claire after battling cancer for 5 years. He was born in Stanley, Wis. on Nov. 20, 1954 to Henry, Sr. & Lucy (Bartosiewicz) Geldernick. Hank lived in Gilman for 19 years, moving to Ladysmith in 1974. On Oct. 21, 1983, he married Tammy L. Woller in Ladysmith. He was a Line Superintendent at Jump River Electric. He enjoyed fishing, computer/internet researching, traveling, church activities, playing with his grandkids, mechanical/car work, watching football, fixing computers and doing electrical work. He was a member of the Ladysmith Baptist Church. 1944-2022 Russell “Russ” James Buss passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. Russ attended Bruckerville Grade School and graduated from Dor-Abby High School in 1962. After high school, he attended farm short course in Madison and upon returning home he farmed and for a short time drove the can milk truck. On May 29, 1965, Russ married the love of his life, Shirley Marzinske at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester. They were married for 57 years and raised four children together. Russ served his community in many active roles serving in various capacities in the church, was on the board of Taylor Electric for several years and Dorchester Co-op and was a member of the Colby FFA Alumni for many years. His hobbies included collecting toy tractors, going to steam and gas shows, reading agricultural history and playing cards. He always enjoyed watching the activities of his children and grandchildren which were his pride and joy. Russ instilled his values of faith, family, friendship and hard work in his children and grandchildren. 1947-2022 Terrance J. McCluskey, 75, of Rib Lake, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
