James Healy


James Patrick Healy, 79, town of Holton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children, on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born Aug. 1, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Joseph and June (Salter) Healy. On May 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Joan Gregoire in Chicago. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching sports on television, hunting and fishing, and hunting trips out West with his hunting buddies. He also loved to share his life and firefighting stories with family and friends. Survivors include: his loving wife of 55 years, Joan; six children: Kathleen (James) Egre, Laura (Dan) Sanchez, Melissa Healy, Sean (Marie) Healy, Colleen (Terry) Halopka and Shannon (Tommy) Ploeckelman; grandchildren: Cyri Watson, Melissa (Josh) Lee, Corrine (Trent) Arn, Luke (Randi) Watson, Kaity (Austin) Richardson, Jeremiah Egre, Nolen, Remy and Abigail Crabtree, Caden Healy, Samantha, Elizabeth and Victoria Healy, RoseMary and Grace Hughes, River, Ella and Tanner Halopka, Madelynn, Bennett, Titus, Faith and Silas Ploeckelman; great-grandchildren: Bridget, Wade, David, Ziva, Alexis, Cordelia, Oliver, Calvin, Raegan, Harper, Hadley and one on the way; a brother, John (Maureen) Healy; a brother-in-law, Steve (Jeanne Rose) Bezenyei; a stepbrother, Brad (Kathy) Beyer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Edward Beyer; an infant son, Michael Healy; an infant great-grandson, Rain Watson; a sister, Jeanne Mary Bezenyei; and a nephew, Kevin Healy. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Jeffrey Solwold presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Milan Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Athens American Legion and Athens Veterans of Foreign Wars. A memorial fund is being established in James’s memory. James Linscott Sr.


James J. Linscott Sr., age 64, of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully with his wife and kids by his side on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. A funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. The visitation was at noon and luncheon followed Mass. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at St. Jude Church in Wauwatosa. Visitation is from 10-12 p.m., Mass at noon with a luncheon to follow at Alioto’s. Jim was born on January 20, 1957, in Wauwatosa, the son of Robert J. and Bernice C. (Burke) Linscott. Jim was a 1975 graduate of Tosa East and was an over the road truck driver for 25 plus years. Jim was united in marriage to Toni Novak on November 11, 2017. Jim’s faith, family and friends were the most important things to him. He was also a dog lover, a jokester and an avid supporter of the military. Jim is survived by his wife, Toni of Abbotsford; his three children: Jim Linscott Jr. of Palmyra, Christine (Chris) Nevermann (Grace, Ryan, Ella and Charlotte) of Fort Atkinson and Denise Linscott (Halo) of Fort Atkinson; step-children: Ethan (Mack and Dominic), Cody and Dillion Novak. He is further survived by his siblings: Bob (Lynn), Tom, Helen, Mike and Mary Linscott, along with many relatives and friends. Vera J. Thorson, age 89, of Abbotsford, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Abbotsford Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford with Rev. Tim Oudenhoven presiding. Following the Mass, Vera was laid to rest in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to gather at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. The honor of pallbearer belonged to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vera Jane Jensen was born at home on July 11, 1932, in the Town of Mayville, the daughter of Arthur “Dane” and Margaret “Marge” (Ulrich) Jensen. On July 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Christ Sittner in Chicago; they divorced a short time later. She moved back home and married Norbert Younker; her high school sweetheart, in Medford on July 14, 1954. They farmed in Dorchester and all the life’s joys and pains that came with that life until Norbert’s death in 1977. She remarried on November 8, 1983, to Donald Thorson in Arkansas. They operated a logging and trucking company in Owen with Vera doing the bookwork, taxes and paying the bills until Don’s retirement in 2008. Vera also worked for her daughter at Courage to Change Recovery as office manager from 1999 until her retirement in 2011. She graduated from eighth grade in her youth and in 1999 she returned and received her high school diploma. She called home to many area towns at different times while married to Don including Jerkwater, Owen, Withee and Dorchester. She was a resident at several assisted living facilities including Pine Ridge-Colby, Home Place-Dorchester and then the Abbotsford Nursing Home for the past six weeks until her peaceful passing. Vera was a godmother to six of her nieces, nephews and family: Gail Meyer, Debbie Seidel, Kevin Meyer, Marge Stelzel, Lori Cypher and Cary Reynolds. She loved to attend the Hodag Country Music Festival and find any reason to go dancing. She was gifted with making jellies and jams, along with homemade bread. Vera was a member of various bowling and pool leagues, always looking forward to a game or two or getting together to play cards. She enjoyed the story of the Little Drummer Boy and what the true meaning of the Christmas season was. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to her family or to anyone she met. She is survived by two daughters: Linda (David) Broeske of Dorchester and RaeAnn (Scott) Wichlacz of Medford; two sons: Chris (Mary) Younker of Abbotsford and Randy (Jill) Younker of Dorchester; and eleven stepchildren from her marriage to Donald Thorson: Roxann (Maynard) Purgett of Abbotsford, Jacqueline (Robert) Suthard of Dorchester, Paula St. Clair of Wausau, Linda Bruner of Milwaukee, Byron Thorson of Apple Valley, Minn., Mark Thorson of Wausau, Rhonda (Duke) Thorson of Sandusky, Ohio, Brenda (Fazollah) Behroyan of Lake Worth, Fla., Wayne (Jackie) Thorson of Wausau, William (Lena) Thorson of El Cajun, Calif., and Susan Thorson of Aurora, Ill. Vera is further survived by her seven grandchildren: Robert Broeske of Dorchester, Cory (Amy) Broeske of Dorchester, Joe Mahl of New Albin, Iowa, Lisa (Teto) Galvan of Abbotsford, Tina Younker of Wausau, Jared Younker of Elk Mound and Jena (Ryan) Fahland of Rush City, Minn.; four step-grandchildren: Travis (Jodie) Wichlacz of Merrill,Jay(Amber)Wichlaczof Gilmer,Texas,Ryan Wichlacz of Rib Lake and Beth Wichlacz of Medford; her seven great-grandchildren: Skyler Mahl of New Albin, Iowa, Gaj Mahl of Phoenix, Ariz., Briane Fitzl of Stanley, Edward Fitzl of Abbotsford and Tucker, Theresa and Tristin Broeske of Dorchester; and her nine step-great-grandchildren: Logan Wichlacz of Watertown, Devin Sperber of Merrill, Dakota, Makayla, Aubrey and Koal Wichlacz of Rib Lake, Kayden and Kaleb Dassow of Medford and Paxton Wichlacz of Glimer, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers: Bruce (Vera) Jensen of Dorchester and Jack (Tom) Jensen of Glidden; one sister, Sandy Dassow of Dousman, as well as many other relatives and friends. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Norbert Younker and Donald Thorson; her son, Ronny Younker; six sisters: Beulah Fisher, Charlene Hundrieser, Donna Goessl, Verna Meyer, Marilyn Meyer and Audrey Cypher; two brothers: Glen Jensen and Gene Jensen, along with three siblings who died at birth and stepdaughter, Merry Moran.
