Grade eight: Ava Ford and Natalie Salber.

COVID dashboard

Athens Public Schools reported one positive case of COVID-19 as of Feb. 14, out of 552 staff and students.

There is one school district staff member who tested positive for COVID-19.

All students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 need to isolate at home.

One hundred and two staff and students have tested positive for COVID-19 since Aug. 31, 2021.

On campus

Paul Mroczenski and Abigail Van Rixel of Athens were awarded to the Concordia Uniersity in Mequon’s fall honors list for the 2021-22 academic year.

Mroczenski is a senior majoring in theological studies and Van Rixel is studying early childhood and elementary education. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 GPA.

The following UW-La Crosse students from Athens were named to the college’s dean’s list for the 2021-22 fall semester: Kellie Annala, who majors in clinical laboratory science; Shay Boesl in health and wellness management; Zandria Lukes in psychology and Haley Reed in accountancy.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must have earned not less than a 3.5 semester GPA and carried a minimum of 12 credits.

Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens card group met on Feb. 10 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Three games of Sheepshead was played. Steve Klockziem won the first game and Alvira Henrichs took second place. Ceil Frank won the second game and Andy Hoest placed second. Norbert Lake won the third game and Butch Boris took second place. Jan Lake received low score.
