Forward Bank and Forward Insurance joined forces with local businesses in support of the health and wellness of the community during the holiday season.
The virtual holiday hugs included three outreach activities that impact different groups in the Athens community.
One thousand dollars of support for the Circle of Joy Food Pantry was pledged. The Forward team worked with Athens IGA to shop for items the pantry specifically needed to stock its shelves this winter.
Forever Remembered delivered poinsettias to residents in the Athenian Living care facility, courtesy of Forward Bank and Insurance.
“The delivery of poinsettias served two purposes,” said Lynn Luetschwager of Forward Insurance. “It brightens the day of residents that may not get to see their families in-person because of current COVID precautions. It also supports a local business that is important to the Athens community fueling our local economy.”
On Dec. 22, a community meal was distributed to 60 community members. Businesses collaborating to provide meals and gift certificates were Circle of Joy, On The Square, M& M Bakery, Landmark Bar & Grill and R& J Athens Café.
“Our commitment to the Athens community started long before the announcement of our intention to build an offi ce here,” said Jessica Frahm, vice president and commercial lender at Forward Bank.
“We’ll look to work with businesses in Athens to support non-profits and those in need, now and after the doors of our new facility open in late 2021.”
