Athens Area Credit Union is organizing the Giving Tree for children of families in the Athens School District who may not be able to purchase Christmas gifts for their children this year.

With the parent’s permission, their children’s wish list for Christmas gifts would be put on a gingerbread ornament to be hung on the Giving Trees that will be located at the Athens Country Cafe, Athens Area Credit Union and On The Square.

People may pick ornaments from these locations and purchase gifts for the children. All information is confidential and no names will be put on the ornaments.

Parents who would like their children to participate in the Giving Tree should call Judy Wiese in the Trinity Lutheran School office to receive a form to be completed no later than this Monday, Nov. 16.

Grab & Go crafts

Children can make a festive, nature-inspirted pinecone owl by picking up a Grab & Go craft kit from the Athens Library between Wednesday, Nov. 18, and Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Kits are free and available while supplies last, but there’s a limit of one kit for each child.

Anyone with questions about the crafting kits should call the Athens library at 715- 257-7292 for more information.
