Athens Assembly of God, located at 220 Kreutzer Street behind Athens IGA, is holding another Jesus Sale from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 7.

All sizes of clothes, coats, shoes, boots, toys and household items are free to the public.

Veterans Day event

The Athens VFW, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary will gather at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the flag pole on the Village Square for a Veteran’s Day presentation from the Athens Elementary School’s fifth-grade class.

After the fifth graders are finished, military honors will be rendered followed by the playing of Taps. The public is welcome to attend the Veteran’s Day event on the Village Square, but masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Because of the current COVID- 19 situation, the Athens VFW, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary won’t be holding Veteran’s Day programs in the schools and church this year.

Fall Fest cancelled

St. Anthony P.C.C.W. has cancelled its annual Fall Fest (potato bake and bake sale) this year.

The cash raffle will be held as planned at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the St.

Anthony’s Catholic School in Athens. Raffle winners will be notified.

Grab & Go crafts

Children of all ages can pick up a Grab & Go kit that will allow them to make a beautiful autumn acorn through the crafting process of wet felting.

Kits will be available during the week of Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13, at the Marathon County Public Library’s Athens Branch, located at 221 Caroline St.

Children can make a festive, nature-inspirted pinecone owl by picking up a Grab & Go craft kit from the Athens Library between Wednesday, Nov. 18, and Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Kits are free and available while supplies last, but there’s a limit of one kit for each child.
