The Senior Citizens card group met on July 9 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.
Three games of Sheepshead was played. David Perrrodin won the first game and Norbert Lake took second place. Butch Boris won the second game and Steve Klockziem took second place. Andy Hoeft won the third game and Jan Lake took second place. Bernice Passehl received low score.
The Senior Citizens card group will play cards again at 1 p.m. this Thursday, July 16, at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.
Fun Food Saturday
Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Athens will host Fun Food Saturday on Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. or until all the food is gone.
Trinity’s world famous chili, burgers and pie will be featured for take-out at Memorial Park in Athens. Orders for whole pies and carryout chili can be placed early for pick-up that day also.
Clinic reopening
The Aspirus Athens Clinic will reopen to patients, after it was temporarily closed in April to allow staff and providers to support operational and COVID-19 surge planning needs at other Aspirus locations.
Re-opening dates may vary by clinic as staff and providers transitioin back to their previous locations. Patients will receive information related to these changes during scheduling and through appointment reminders and other means of communication. ] Patients will be required to wear masks at their visits and they’ll also receive a temperature check and be asked if they have any symptoms commonly associated with COVID- 19.
Patients can schedule appointments by calling the Athens Clinic.
Old Timers Band
The Athens Old Timers Band will resume its Friday summer concert series. The band will perform in Memorial Park to allow for social distancing. No food or popcorn stand will be available so bring your own chair, refreshment. Masks are optional. Concerts will start at 7:30 p.m.
Farmers Market
The Athens Farmers Market
is held every Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., at Memorial Park.
Library is open
The Marathon County Public Library Athens Branch is open again with limited services, by appointment.
Athens library will be open the following hours by appointment: Mondays 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Tuesdays, 1-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Thursdays, 1-5 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The library will also still offer curbside pickup of items from 2-4 p.m. on Mondays, 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays and 2-4 p.m. on Fridays.
People need to call the Athens library at 715-257-7292 to make an appointment to visit the library during its limited hours, or to request curbside pickup.
