Middle school honors

Athens Middle School has announced its honor roll for the fourth quarter of the 2019-20 school year.

Highest Honors

Grade six: Sy’Rih Hartwig and Makayla Schreiner.

Grade eight: Jazelle Hartwig.

High Honors

Grade six: Jordan Frahm, Isabelle Zastrow, Brandon Krause, Riley Schultz-Becker and Zachary Martyn.

Grade seven: Bailey Hanke, Ellyanne Manecke, Aleah Frahm and Nicholas Pittman.

Grade eight: Faith Nowak, Kiara Nowacki, Jennifer Espinoza- Quiroz, Cambrea Sarasin, Logan Ebben and Riley Gallagher.

Honors

Grade six: Xandria Heier, Gavin Frahm and Alyvia Haehlke.

Trinity Lutheran School in Athens has announced its honor roll for the fourth quarter of the 2019-20 school year.

Highest Honors

Grade six: Eli Paul.

High Honors

Grade six: Ava Ford and Swayne Stencil.

Grade eight: Andrew Schaer.

Library now open

The Marathon County Public Library Athens Branch is open again with limited services, by appointment.

Athens library will be open the following hours by appointment: Mondays 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Tuesdays, 1-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Thursdays, 1-5 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The library will also still offer curbside pickup of items from 2-4 p.m. on Mondays, 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays and 2-4 p.m. on Fridays.

People need to call the Athens library at 715-257-7292 to make an appointment to visit the library during its limited hours, or to request curbside pickup.

No band concerts

The Athens Old Timers Band concerts are not occurring for the foreseeable future unless the COVID-19 pandemic improves.

Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens card group met on June 25 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Three games of Sheepshead was played. Norbert Lake won the first game and Andy Hoest took second place. Pat Frank won the second game and Steve Klockziem placed second. Butch Boris won the third game and Aaron Totzke took second place. Wil Strack received low score.

The Senior Citizens card group will play cards again at 1 p.m. this Thursday, July 2, at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Farmers Market

The Athens Farmers Market is held every Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., at Memorial Park.

Fun Food Saturday

Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Athens will host Fun Food Saturday on Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. or until all the food is gone.

Trinity’s world famous chili, burgers and pie will be featured for take-out at Memorial Park in Athens. Orders for whole pies and carryout chili can be placed early for pick-up that day also.
