Athens High School is offering tractor safety from 8 a.m. until noon on July 20-22.

The course will be a mix of in-person and at-home sessions. The class is limited to 10 participants and payment is due before this Tuesday, June 30.

People wanting to know the cost of the course should contact Jessica Stuttgen, Athens FFA advisor, at 715-257-7511, ext. 132 or jstuttgen@athens1. org.

Parents should make checks payable to UW-Extension and drop them off at Athens High School this Thursday, June 25 or this Monday, June 29. Checks can also be mailed to Jessica Stuttgen, P.O. Box F, Athens.

A parent or guardian is required to attend a 30 minute orientation session beginning at 8 a.m. on July 20.

Library now open

The Marathon County Public Library Athens Branch is open again with limited services, by appointment.

Athens library will be open the following hours by appointment: Mondays 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Tuesdays, 1-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Thursdays, 1-5 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The library will also still offer curbside pickup of items from 2-4 p.m. on Mondays, 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays and 2-4 p.m. on Fridays.

People need to call the Athens library at 715-257-7292 to make an appointment to visit the library during its limited hours, or to request curbside pickup.

No band concerts

The Athens Old Timers Band concerts are not occurring for the foreseeable future unless the COVID-19 pandemic improves.

Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens card group met on June 18 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Two games of Sheepshead was played. Pat Frank won the first game and Elvera Henrichs took second place. Aaron Totzke won the second game and Butch Boris placed second. Bernice Passehl received low score.

The Senior Citizens card group will play cards again at 1 p.m. this Thursday, June 25, at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Farmers Market

The Athens Farmers Market is held every Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., at Memorial Park.
