A cookies, candy and more sale will be held from 9 a.m. until noon this Saturday, Dec. 21, in the Trinity Fellowship Hall in Athens.

Attendees can let Trinity Lutheran Church members help them with their holiday baking. There will be cookies, Christmas candies, fruit cakes, breads and bars available for purchase.

Weekly knitting

Adults can practice their knitting, crocheting and more on a weekly basis with new sessions of Needle Arts afternoons from 1-4 p.m. each Tuesday until Dec. 31 at the Marathon County Public Library’s Athens Branch, located at 221 Caroline Street.

Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens card group met on Dec. 12 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Two games of Sheepshead were played. Ray Schemenaurer won the first game and Norbert Lake took second place. Sally Whaples won the second game and Bitsy Ewan placed second. Jan Lake received low score.

Card playing will resume at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Holiday card making

Everyone is invited to make their own handmade holiday cards through this Friday, Dec. 20, at the Marathon County Public Library’s Athens Branch, located at 221 Caroline St.

People are welcome to drop by the library any time it’s open throughout next week to participate. All supplies are provided. Those wanting more information on this event can call the Athens Library at 715-257-7292.

Open House

The Poniatowski Dare Devils Snowmobile Club is having a 50th anniversary open house on Saturday, Feb. 8, from noon until 6 p.m. at the club’s shed, which is located at 126866 Cherry Grove Lane in rural Edgar.

There will be food and drinks available at the open house. The Poniatowski Dare Devils Snowmobile Club was established in 1970.

Christmas concert

Trinity Lutheran School’s Christmas concert will be at 9 a.m. this Sunday, Dec. 22.
