Lake Holcombe School Board - Stop at the gas pump, help out sports
By Ginna Young
Next time you stop at the Holcombe gas station, you may notice an addition at the gas pump. It was reported May 19, at the Lake Holcombe School Board meeting, that River Country Co-op is installing a Spirit Pump.
Every time a customer uses that pump, 2 cents, per each gallon of gas sold, will be directed toward the school’s athletic program. The district will recieve the funds quarterly.
District administrator Kurt Lindau mentioned that Hayward has a Spirit Pump, which garners about $900 a month. Of course, he realizes that Holcombe is a much smaller area, but the tourist season may make up for that.
“It’ll be interesting to see what we’ll pull in, in the summer,” said board member Jamie Tester-Morfoot.
During the meeting, members approved the resignation of band director Lauren Ische; and school nurse Liberty Belter.
This decision has not come easily, largely in part, due to the gratitude I feel for the support of the administration, fellow teachers and everyone else during my time here, wrote Ische. I cannot express how grateful I am for the opportunities that Lake Holcombe has provided me.
I have enjoyed my time here, however, I believe that I need to devote more time to focus on my family and other endeavors, wrote Belter.
They also accepted $50, from the Cornell Area Betterment Association (CABA), to the Holiday Shoppe; $1,000, from the Lake Holcombe Haunted Trail, for the elementary field trip; $200, from the trail, to the archery program; $200, from the trail, toward the sawmill project; and $400, from Andrew and Jemyma Friedman, to the archery program.
It was agreed to change the summer meetings time from 6 p.m., to 5 p.m.
