It may be cold outside, but things will heat up in Cornell, Sunday, Nov. 5, for St. John’s Lutheran Church chili cookoff. Congregation members will bring pots of their favorite/best chili recipe, in a friendly competition for bragging rights.

“We just started doing this last year,” said Pastor Chris Christenson.

The public is also welcome to join the church in worship at 10 a.m., prior to the cookoff. The contest begins at 11:30 a.m., with the public welcome to bring their own chili to add to the contest.

Each entry will be judged by attendees, so individuals can have as much chili as they want.

“Everyone’s invited and it’s completely free,” said Christenson.
