Cadott Village Board; Sprout Up Market causes double-booking concerns
By Julia Wolf
The Cadott Village Board tabled a decision on a transient application by Heather Yarrington for Sprout Up Pop Up Markets, during a regular meeting Feb. 6.
Yarrington submitted the application for the weeks of Country and Rock fests, to hold a craft and vendor fair, and requested using the east side of Riverview Park. Action was previously tabled, until the board heard back from the Cadott Lions Club.
Board member Terry Licht, who is also a Lions club member, said the Lions decided in their last meeting, not to rent the pavilion to Yarrington, as both weeks will interfere with the Lions club brat feed. The Lions also questioned if the craft and vendor fair would interfere with the Saturday morning farmers market.
Outgoing clerk Sandy Buetow also said the police thought activities on both sides of the park during those weeks, could cause traffic flow concerns.
“I wonder if they could join in with the other group,” said Bart Chapek, board member.
Board member Eric Weiland says there would be three days, where the craft and vendor fair wouldn’t interfere with anything on the west side of the park, and thought they should approve it and see if Yarrington can find a place in the park to set up.
“I’m not against having a little more going on in Cadott,” said Chapek. “You know, it’d be nice if we could capitalize a little bit.”
Les Liptak, board member, says his concern, is the couple days of conflict with events already at the park, but says he would be OK with Yarrington setting up on the west side, if she can work something out with the farmers market.
The board tabled action on the transient request, to give time for Yarrington to talk to the farmers market organizer and see if they can come to a solution.
Members also approved a resolution designating Citizens State Bank and the State Investment Pool as official depositories for municipal funds, and a resolution authorizing the village president to expend up to $5,000, without approval from the board, as part of the board’s yearly action items.
Compensation matters, discussed in a closed session earlier in the evening, were also approved.
Licht reported the Street Committee decided the extent of the Brown Street project, during their recent meeting.
“Basically, the committee came up with the consensus that we will run the water main down to Brown Street along X and pave Brown Street, and that’ll be it,” said Licht.
He says other project elements they considered are no longer in the plans, including storm sewer, water, curb and gutter, and grinder pumps, as that is what they can do with the money they have.
For the County Hwy. X and State Hwy. 27 projects, scheduled for 2024, Licht says they are hoping the sewer line from the corner to Hartford Street is solid enough they can reline it, then add new lines from Hartford to Kwik Trip.
“That’ll be a permanent fix, we’re hoping,” said Licht. As a notice to the public, there are funds available for homeowners with house repair projects.
“You pay it back when you sell the house,” said Buetow. Those who would like more information should contact the Chippewa County Housing Authority or the village office.
