Recognize those who give so much back to the area

By Ginna Young

Do you know someone in the Cornell or Holcombe community, who makes a difference in the lives of others, who strives to make their home town the best it can be? If so, then your voice is needed to bring light to those individuals.

In its fifth year, the Cornell Area Community Awards recognition is back, sponsored by the Cornell Area Betterment Association (CABA).

“We would like to see the community get more involved in the nomination process,” said CABA president Kristine Hemenway.

The awards for 2022 will reflect six categories: Community Leader of the Year; Business of the Year; Legacy Award; Volunteer of the Year; Civic Organization of the Year; and New Venture of the Year.

Anyone can nominate who they think is worthy of the acknowledgement, from activities, services or good works from the last five years. Members of CABA will then review the nominations, vote on them and host an awards dinner for the recipients sometime in March.

Nomination forms and award criteria are available online, at cornellwi.org, while paper nomination forms can be picked up at the Courier Sentinel office, Citizens State Bank and other local businesses.

The deadline to get nominations in is 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, with no exceptions. Completed forms can be mailed to: CABA, P.O. Box 602, Cornell, WI 54732, or dropped off at the Courier Sentinel office.

“This is such a wonderful opportunity for our communities to have a voice in honoring all the wonderful people and places, that make this area such an amazing place to be,” said Hemenway.
