Indoor pickleball courts open for community use

The Lake Holcombe School recently added pickleball court lines to the new gym, with the community in mind. Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis and tennis, and is growing in popularity.
Athletic director Todd Senoraske says the court lines were added in November, specifically for community members.
A pickleball group meets at the courts Wednesday nights, from 6-9 p.m. Right now, the meeting times are reserved through February.
“It seems like a fun little group that’s there and some good friendships that form within that, too,” said Senoraske.
He says the group contains a lot of retired people, but is open to adults of all ages.
“They’re really eager to teach people how to play pickleball,” said Senoraske.
He says drop-ins are welcome at the Wednesday night group. If someone who wants to attend has equipment, they should bring it, but for those who do not own equipment, Senoraske says he is sure there is a way to find them some to use.
“I know it’s a good workout,” said Senoraske. “You don’t realize you’re getting as good of a workout as you are, because it’s so much fun.”
