Although July was a hot month, the Cadott Lions Club kept busy, starting with their annual July 4 brat stand in the East Park. Next, came a plastic party to bag up all the plastic that is collected for the benches placed in the park.

Several of the club members also volunteered to work at Farm Technology Days to work in a food tent and hot was an understatement. Hot on the heels of that, was Cadott Nabor Days.

That Friday and Saturday in the East Park, brats and burgers were sold, while Saturday and Sunday, chicken and burgers were in the West Park. That Saturday afternoon also saw BINGO, which was played by many, with the assistance of the newly crowned Junior Miss Cadott and the two Little Miss Cadotts.

Next, came the annual duck race on the river. The crew in the canoe had a workout, as the weather and the ducks had other things on their minds.

Giving the members a break, August looks a little slower, with a steak dinner near the end of the month, and free senior BINGO Aug. 22, in the park.

The Cornell Elementary School playground is going to look different as students return to school this fall, after the old wooden structure that was giving kids slivers, was removed and a new one was installed. In addition, the school is pouring a rubber surface and got rid of the rubber chips that made clothes black. The area should be ready for the first day of school, even after the project got slowed down by some rain, which volunteers found out about during the installation on a very rainy day Aug. 5. “We did a community build to save money,” said superintendent Paul Schley.
