Help students get off to the right start this school year

It’s hard to believe the summer is already nearing its end, but with school supply lists out and stores stocking the necessary notebooks, pencils and such, local businesses have jumped on board to provide what students need.

“Typically, we do something for Christmas in July,” said Ashley Anderson, Cook & Anderson Chiropractic in Cadott.

Each year, the chiropractic office chooses a project to collect donations for, and this July, Anderson and her colleagues decided to go the school supply route.

After looking through the supply list for 4K through sixth grade on the Cadott School District website, the chiropractors made tags, listing what is needed. Anderson said, depending on people’s budgets, single or multiple tags can be taken. The items purchased can then be returned to the office during their business hours and the collections will be distributed to the school later on.

Citizens State Bank is also hosting a drive, with their dropoffs accepted the second and third week in August, during normal business hours. With locations including branches in Cadott and Cornell, the supplies will be distributed to multiple districts.

“We wouldn’t accept monetary donations,” said Angie Wald, the bank’s HR generalist.

With a focused effort on collecting supplies for the Lake Holcombe School District, the Lake Holcombe Leos Club is taking donations through the second week in August. All types of supplies, including glue, notebooks, erasers, backpacks and Kleenex, will be accepted.

Donations can be dropped off for the Leos at the Courier Sentinel office in Cornell, during regular business hours.

“We would be happy to accept monetary donations and purchase supplies, too,” said Leos adviser Jane Ash.
