Cadott Village Board; Codes applied in Maple Street property maintenance

By Julia Wolf

The Cadott Village Board voted to follow the procedure in the Code of Ordinances, during a regular July 6 meeting, concerning the maintenance of a Maple Street property.

The Health Committee met with John Rykhus, owner of the property, and went over the pertinent ordinances with him. The consensus of the committee was to follow the codes.

Terry Licht, board member, says the inspector will come to check the property.

Rykhus says he has a problem with the inspector coming, because if the inspector comes with extra things, Rykhus says it will distract him from the things the village board wants fixed.

“Well, we want it safe for you,” said board member Bart Chapek.

The board also voted to enter into a contract with Chippewa County for the Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) building regulations.

“They do pretty much everybody’s around here,” said Sandy Buetow, village clerk.

Anson Albardo, board president, added that the move also replaces the current UDC building inspector, Al Balsiger, as he is retiring.

Members also approved a purchase order for a new police squad car from Chilson’s Corner Motors of Cadott.

“There was really not much for options,” said Russ Falkenberg, board member.

Albarado reported the Utilities Committee held a followup meeting with Chippewa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) to discuss the placement of an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at River Country Plaza. He says the contract was drawn up and sent to the parties to preview.

Also discussed during the committee meeting, was switching the village system to 7,200 volts. Albarado says the next step is to talk to engineers, and see how many transformers the village will need and how to go about the switch.
