It’s been more than a year, but the Cornell Community Closet is back in business. The clothing center distributes clean, gently used items for free to those in the Cornell School District who need it.

Run by Michele Bowe, the closet is located in the elementary school, where “shoppers” can enter at the South Fourth Street entrance. Distribution will take place this summer, June 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Aug. 23, from, 4-8 p.m.

No appointment is necessary and a mask is not required, but people are asked to follow CDC guidelines.

The closet has a selection of items available, including infant through teen clothes, shoes and outerwear, as well as backpacks.

“We no longer stock adult clothing, other than what appeals to teens,” said Bowe.

During the summer, donations are accepted by contacting Bowe, at 715-202-3222.

“I think it helps people by providing them clean, gently used clothing,” said Bowe. “It also gives them a place where they can donate unwanted kids clothes, locally.”
