Relive school days, catch up with classes at reunion

By Ginna Young

Whether you moved to another continent, just down the road or still live on the same block you grew up in, Cornell High School graduates are invited back to relive memories and make some new ones as part of the All-School & Community Reunion. Held in conjunction with the Cornell Community Fair, the reunion promises to be jam-packed with activities and fun – not just for Cornell alumni, but all who live in the area.

“All are welcome,” said All-School Reunion Committee member Chris Frenzel. “We look forward to seeing alumni, school attendees and community members.”

The fair kicks off Friday, June 18, and continues through Sunday, June 20, with plenty of time for the reunion attendees to visit, eat and reminisce. A social time is scheduled for Saturday, June 19, from 2-5 p.m., at the Mill Yard Park pavilion, but people are encouraged to spend as much time talking and catching up as they can at the park.

After the “gabbing” has waned somewhat, a live band, sponsored by local businesses and individuals, takes the stage at 7 p.m. that night, and with rockin’ oldies, it won’t be hard to cut a rug.

“I hope a lot of people will come out and visit old friends,” said committee member Kristine Hemenway, “maybe make some new friends, and enjoy a fun night of great music and dancing with the Whitesidewalls.”

The next day, a social time is also set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the pavilion. People are encouraged to bring memorabilia to show off their old schools days, as well as photos from then and now.

More information on the events can be found on the fair and alumni Facebook pages.

“With everything that’s gone on over the last year, this is the perfect time to celebrate,” said committee member Kathy Swanson. “So, let’s celebrate and renew the ties that draw us together.”
