A snowmobile accident, Feb. 19, left one person injured.

Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says a snowmobile, driven by Jacob Uecker, went over the dam on the Yellow River in Cadott.

Kowalczyk says the complainant initially reported the operator had serious injuries.

Uecker, from Howard Lake, Minn., was snowmobiling with his father, Jason, and reports reflect that Uecker was the lead snowmobile. They were headed west on the river toward Main Street, in Cadott.

“Based on the scene evidence, we observed tracks going toward the Yellow River dam, and then it appears the driver went airborne off the dam and crashed under the dam,” said Kowalczyk.

Kowalczyk says the reason Uecker went over the dam is still unknown.

Uecker was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire.

“He had some serious injuries,” said Kowalczyk, adding he has not heard any updates on his condition.
