Whether you love it or hate it, it appears winter is showing his face around here. And that means a loss of mobility for a segment of the population. Sometimes, it’s cozy to be cooped up at home. But eventually, it’s an awful bore.

So, I want to let you know, you don’t have to be bored! The library offers home delivery service to anyone who has problems getting to (or into) the library. This service is offered year round, but we know that winter is when people start to worry about getting around.

Getting started with the home delivery service is easy. All you need is a library card. If you don’t have one, we’ll work with you to get one! We have a short form that can be filled out by phone or a friend/family member can pick one up for you.

We offer to curate a selection of books, DVDs, magazines and music; or you can let us know exactly what it is you’re looking for by phone. Have internet at home? Use the online catalog to place your own holds and we’ll deliver to your door.

We suggest a monthly or bi-monthly visit. We’ll drop items off and pick them back up when we bring the next batch. It’s as easy as that!

Also happening at the library, we are a tag pick-up and drop-off location for the Spirit of Christmas, in the Chippewa Valley. Tags with gift requests from children are available on a display near the front desk and the items need to be returned for pick-up by Dec. 2, so hurry in! We have plenty of tags and time is running out.

Coming up, the library will be closed Nov. 28 and 29, for Thanksgiving observance, then, Dec. 9 will kick off a Patron Appreciation Week. We hope you’ll stop in to enjoy some free refreshments, and we have free calendars to give away (while supply lasts).

Lastly, the Friends of the Library are running a t-shirt fundraiser through Dec. 11. You can order your t-shirt at bit.ly/ cadottshirt2019, or by stopping into the library by Dec. 6. Shirts must be paid for before an order will be placed and will be delivered to the library around Dec. 30. This is a great way to show off your support! Happy reading!

Library Hours: Monday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1-6 p.m.; Wednesday, 10-7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, closed.
