Abby Festival, Abby Dairy Breakfast highlight packed weekend of events

Abbotsford and Curtiss will be the host sites of two of the biggest events of the year in Central Wisconsin as both the eighth annual Abby Festival and 34th annual Abbotsford Dairy Breakfast will be rolling into town.

The Abby Festival will feature a weekend full of family fun on Main Street in Abbotsford. The weekend is kicked off with the arrival of Spectrum Entertainment carnival rides beginning at 6 p.m.

Live music on Friday includes the “Trigger Trippers” who will be performing 50s, 60s and 70s music from 8 p.m. to midnight. Saturday night will feature various Latino bands from 7-9 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to midnight. The event will conclude with a live D.J. from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The fun begins bright and early on Sunday as a 5-on-5 basketball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. at the basketball court located on the corner of Butternut Street and Fifth Avenue. A captain’s meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. with trophies and medals given out for first and second place.

Saturday will also contain a family soccer tournament beginning at 8:30 a.m. with registration at 8 a.m. Medals will be given out to first and second place finishers in the youth division with trophies given out to those in the adult division. The tournament will occur at the Schilling soccer field on the corner of Porcupine Street and Fourth Avenue.

A live dinosaur puppet show will be held on Saturday at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. as well as a craft sale at South First Street from 2 - 8 p.m. on Saturday. Set up for the event will run from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. with no early take downs.

The weekend will be capped off by a parade on Sunday, June 4 beginning at 1:30 p.m. The parade line-up will begin at noon and will start on Second Avenue, west of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. There were be trophies awarded for first, second and third place entries.

The Abbotsford FFA Alumni, along with Midwest Sidewalls LLC of Curtiss will be hosting the 34th annual Abbotsford Dairy Breakfast on Sunday, June 4.

Midwest Sidewalls is located at 213 Circle Drive in Curtiss and will be hosting its first dairy breakfast.

The breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and run until noon with a shuttle being available to transfer attendees between the Abbotsford School District’s south parking lot and the farm. Attendees will be served a breakfast containing pancakes, maple syrup and butter, sausage, applesauce, a variety of sliced cheese, cheese curds, white and chocolate milk, orange juice, coffee, cookies and ice cream.

There will be a charge for attendees ages 6 - adult while children ages 5 and under will be given free admittance. Live, on-site radio broadcasts will be heard throughout the morning and a variety of raffle and door prizes will be given away.
