The Stratford Village Board on Oct. 11 voted to accept Stratford police chief Tim Miller’s retirement notice. His last day as police chief will be Friday, Dec. 2, regardless of whether the village has hired his successor or not. He has spent almost 30 years working in law enforcement, including nearly the past seven years as Stratford Police Chief. Miller is currently a college student who is studying to eventually have a new job career in the medical field.

Miller began working as Stratford Police Chief in April of 2016. He replaced Korey Schillinger who retired as Stratford Police Chief at the end of January 2016 after serving 34 years in law enforcement, including 29 years as Stratford Police Chief. Miller is a native of New London who graduated in 1993 with a police science degree from Fox Valley Technical College.

He worked at the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for over a year and at the Germantown Police Department as a narcotics investigator for over 22 years before becoming Stratford Police Chief.

Miller described his biggest accomplishments while working as Stratford Police Chief.

“I think updating and modernizing the police department as a whole,” he said. “The main thing is hiring good, young officers that want to work in Stratford and dedicate their careers to this community. They are the solid base for the future.”

Stratford’s Police Department currently has full-time officers Kyle Guralski and Sydney Nussbaum and parttime officer Derek Wheatley who also works full time for the Neillsville Police Department.

Miller and his wife have three children and the couple plans to stay living in Stratford after he retires as Stratford Police Chief.
