Marathon County on Monday named Chris Holman as deputy county administrator.

Holman served as the county executive for Portage County from 2018-2022. In that role, he expanded the county’s highway facilities, revised fiscal policies and upgraded the county’s IT infrastructure. Additionally, Holman has served on several state and national boards focusing on U.S. agriculture where he advocated for the issues facing small-to-mid size farms.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue working in local government here in Marathon County,” said Holman. “In my previous role as the Portage County executive, I worked with Marathon County on several issues and got to know the county well through regional conversations, as well as the collective work both Marathon and Portage counties have been involved in through the Wisconsin Counties Association.”

DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR In this role, Holman will be responsible for supporting the coordination of overall county operations while working with county administrator Lance Leonhard, county supervisors, department heads, and other community and business leaders.

“I look forward to learning more about Marathon County, contributing to the county team, and working together to successfully address the challenges unique to Marathon County, but also facing local governments in general,” said Holman.
