Investigation ongoing after man’s body found

Area law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation into the apparent homicide of a Marshfield man whose body was found by a trapper on Dec. 22 in the town of Spencer.

Authorities have identified the man as 20-year-old Christian C. Schauer of Marshfield. An autopsy was conducted on the body last week after it was found near the intersection of Abe Lincoln Drive and Swamp Road several miles southeast of the village of Spencer, near the McMillan Marsh area. The body is believed to have been dumped in that spot, with the homicide occurring elsewhere.

Police were looking for a vehicle described as a black 2005 Chevy Impala with Wisconsin license plate AHT6900. It is believed to have belonged to the victim.

Little other information is being released by investigators at this time.
