Christmas fair
St. Mary’s Parish, Colby, will be holding its annual Christmas Fair and Soup and Salad Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 22, at St. Mary’s School Gym. The fair opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m., when the raffle prizes will be drawn. The Christmas Fair will have fresh bakery goods, a cookie walk, children’s handmade ornaments, religious items, ImagiNation books, fresh wreaths, crafts and a fish pond. The luncheon will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features homemade chicken soup, creme of broccoli soup, along with fresh-made bread and a large variety of salads and desserts.
Christmas Parade
The Abbotsford Christmas Parade Committee meets the third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held at Pizza Hut at noon Tuesday, Nov. 25. Volunteers and representatives of Abbotsford businesses are welcome to attend. Contact parade co-chairmen Kris O’Leary or Kevin Flink to sponsor a float or participate in the parade. Area Lions club and Lioness club meetings are scheduled as follows:
Curtiss Lions: Board of Directors meetings the first Monday of each month; club meetings the third Monday of each month; meetings held at the Community Center at 7 p.m.
Dorchester Lions: Club meetings the 1st Monday of each month; meetings held at the Dairyland Cafe; dinner at 7 p.m., meeting to follow.
Dorchester Lioness: Club meetings the 3rd Tuesday of each month; meetings held at the Village Hall at 7 p.m.
Colby Lions: Club meetings the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month; meetings held at the Lions Shelter at 6:30 p.m.
Colby Lioness: Club meetings the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Lions Shelter; all meetings at 7 p.m.
Abbotsford Lions: Club meetings the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month; meetings held at Molitor’s New Saloon at 6:30 p.m.; regular membership meeting the 2nd Monday, Board of Directors the 4th Monday.

Page Forward Volunteers for Literacy in Clark County has been working to meet the growing need within the Hispanic community to learn English. There is also a growing need for tutor volunteers. It is not necessary to know Spanish in order to tutor. Those available to volunteer up to two hours per week to tutor an individual man or woman in the English language are asked to call 223-3143.
