Green Grove treasurer charged with theft

The longtime treasurer in the town of Green Grove faces charges of theft and misconduct in office after she allegedly took nearly $25,000 from the town’s savings account over a period of more than two years.
Sandra H. Fritz, 75, was charged Tuesday with theft in a business setting of more than $10,000 and misconduct in office, both felonies. She is scheduled to have an initial appearance Aug. 28 in Clark County Circuit Court.
According to a report from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Fritz made a total of 17 unauthorized withdrawals, totalling just over $20,200, from the township’s savings account at AbbyBank between July 2013 and March 2015. Another $4,400 in property tax and dog license collections went missing between December 2012 and October 2014, according to an audit requested by the town board and conducted by the accounting firm Schenck S.C.
Fritz admitted taking the money during a July 15 interview at her home with detective Jason Bourget of the sheriff’s department, according to the detective’s report.
